So ten years ago today, Philly beat Dallas 10-6. The stadium was great that day and I can still remember what it was like during warmups and in the parking lots. great energy.

on the opening drive owens beat lito sheppard for what should have been a 75 yard touchdown but Romo hit his hand on a defensive linemans helmet on the follow through and missed the throw. His hand swelled up and wasnt right that day and the offense struggled all day for this reason and many others.

the biggest reason was that Jim Johnson the eagles defensive coordinator put together a great gameplan and had a great defensive team.

Dallas lost 10-6 which really didnt matter because GB lost to seattle the next week which gave Dallas the 1 seed. What did matter though was that New York Giants defensive coordinator steve spagnuolo used this game as a way to devise a gameplan to stop an offense that torched him twice already that season. So he copied what the eagles did in this game to beat Dallas in the january 08 divisional playoff game at texas stadium.

This game was the first chink in the armor of the 2007 season. Romo's hand injury, the loss and then the next week at Carolina Chris Canty, terrell Owens, Andre Gurode and pat Watkins got hurt.

If romo doesnt bang his thumb on the opening drive and Dallas wins this game I wonder if Spagnuolo jim johnson old linebackers coach would have still copied the game plan? Like everything with this era its all what if's.

anyway you can check out the game recap I made in 08 of these couple of games.

I was drunk! Don't remember the bad days?

Those Eagles teams with Jim Johnson gave Romo lots of problems during his early years as a starter.

A freak injury leads to a DC figuring us out?

Grand canyon wide gap in your theory.

You need some luck to win the SB. Staying healthy is part of that; TO's injury was really the key. Romo's hand was not the same and I think he might have lost a little confidence. He was only in his second year as a starter and was not as sure of himself as he would be in a couple of years.

Another factor that showed up in 2007 was that we were not very well conditioned; especially on the lines. The O line got gassed in the fourth quarter of the Giants playoff game.

And I will always wonder if we had had Terry Glenn healthy what a difference that could have made. At the very least would not have had to rely on Crayton.

There was one error. GB loss to Chicago that gave us the number 1 seed.

I remember that Urlacher pick 6.

A spagnuolo has said it many times. He copied the eagles because of how they shut the offense down. He didn’t know how to stop it, stilll doesn’t.

It’s not a theory I am just saying if Romo doesn’t bang his hand and hits Owens on the opening drive maybe Dallas has a normal day on offense and then spagnuolo doesn’t use what the eagles did up front.

If memory serves me correct this when the offensive scheme and play calling was first deemed to be “Figured Out” and came under attack...

....and they are no better off 10 years later.
Will barely finish .500, eliminated next week, mediocre draft pick, same crappy coach next year.
Rinse, repeat next year.
Thanks, old narcissistic drunk....:(
