I think it's fair to ask "what authority?"

The people with the authority to make the important decisions seem to be the ones the owner trusts the most at that given moment.

Yep.

Babe said on the pregame today that Kiffin was shoved down Garrett's throat in the offseason and he is a complete disaster.

Ends all the arguments, the jones family make all the decisions and Garrett is a puppet who will be very poorly thought of when he is fired next week.

No different than campo.

My sources (keep in mind - I have none) tell me Garrett is fired if we don't win the division.

My sources are are telling me that Jerry is going to give Garrett a contract extension to 2015

He said that? I had already bought the idea that the firing of Ryan was forced by Jerry, but I have a hard time swallowing that Jason didn't buy in to bringing in Kiffin once that decision was made He did have a prior working history with the guy. I supposed that can be considered forcing a change on him, at least.

I also consider it unlikely Garrett's reputation would be hurt by rumors (or established facts, if they can be established) that Jerry Jones forced things on his head coach. Now, I can see people thinking he's not a good coaching candidate because of his play on the field, but that's a different story. No head coach is going to be able to force any decisions the owner doesn't ultimately want.

He said it right out. Jerry forced Kiffin on him.

The sad part is it was lacewell who basically hired Kiffin.

It's 2001 again.

Wow. I'm not buying that take entirely, but, if it's true--or even mostly true--that's incredibly depressing.

Absolutely.

We all knew Garrett was poorly equipt for this job..

..with no connections to build a quality staff or the experience to know how to do this.

Leaving it up to Jones to do this is just insanity.

Of course..as we see..guys like Larry Lacewell still have Jones' ear and those guys go all the way back to the Jimmy Johnson era..

Light years in time of the NFL.

There appears to be an extremely unhealthy atmosphere on this team right now. The offense is having its problems with dissention and the defense has become mortally and terminally depleted by injury. It's a festering mess that may just prove to require desperate measures.

When players get the feeling they are playing for a lame duck coach, problems pop up between players and coaches. This mess is only going to get worse until a new coach is hired.

Romo and Callahan constantly usurp Garrett's authority. Garrett's been the nice guy too long and now the inmates run the asylum

Sorry, other way around. Romo's been the nice guy while Garrett throws everybody under the bus, while giving off the image of nice guy.

Love how all Garrett defenders flip. Beginning of the season it was all Garrett's genius because of his alleged ties to Kiffin, now Kiffin was forced down his throat. Conveniently, all these same guys were blaming Ryan for Garrett's failures.

Let's get another point clear:

Rob Ryan was the scapegoat last year for Garrett. Now, it's Kiffen. Lol... At least Kiffin got TOs for Garrett's offense to put points up.

I wonder what Tony Romo would have been had he not been saddled with Jason Garrett's offensive system his entire career.

Babe laufenburg is Garrett's biggest defender. The guy should be tarred and feathered. I've never seen a worse QB in my life. His QB play destroyed any chance of making the playoffs in Johnson's second season, when we went seven and nine. We needed just one win after Aikman got hurt and he was floating up ducks everywhere to get INTs. Then the Commanders had their privilege of his awesome QB play. Of course a pathetic QB like him would be on Garrett's jock strap.

That s what you got out of what I said?

I'm not scapegoating anyone.

Rob Ryan is a poor coach, Jason Garrett is a poor coach and monte Kiffin should be retired.
