Jeremy "the choad" Shockey had over 120 yards recieving today...we didn't shut him down....Newman is playing some great football !!

I remember Newman being on Shockey a few plays and the big Shockey plays occuring when he was the linebacker or safety responsibility.

T-new is right now, top 5 backs in the NFC, hands down, no questions asked, where you put is up to you.

He played with an injury last season, no FS, and no RCB, and still didnt do all that bad, and now with at least two of those questions asked he has played even better.

The reason teams dont throw to him is because his player is never open, Newman shuts down one side of the field every game, and when you can line up in a 3 point stance and sack Mcnabb you need to go tothe probowl

excellent point and i agree. and while i give newman props for his coverage like everyone else, i think his tackling ability is often overlooked. hes a very good tackler too. so hes not one dimensional.

shame he doesn't get a chance at the ints because no one throws his way...

Better not throw his way because someone has to tell him they did. If the ball won't stuck in the rear of his helmet he won't catch an in in his whole damn career.

The problem is, that if they never throw at him his stats will seem as he doesn't warrant a trip to the pro-bowl. Thats the shame of the whole situation.

Bailey, to my recollection, has never been a big interception guy. Deion wasn't for much of his stay here.

Both were able to develop a reputation though through the media that, for whatever reason, Newman hasn't gotten yet. You really never, ever hear his name come up in national circles.

Once a few people start talking about him, the frenzy will begin, I think.

Not telling you how to do your job, but I think you've got the right passion here for your next article.

I was letting that one ride but you are right. Shockey waswn't shut down; we were trying to cover him like a normal TE and as much as I hate to say it he is actually very good. We needed to game plan him better but we did shut down Burress and all those others. If you take away the one long play to Randy Moss (that can't really be laid at the feet of either CB) we shut him down and that play only cost us three points. I'll take that game against Moss any day.

Newman can tackle to back up his excellent coverage skills. He is playing CB about as well as I can remember anyone playing it...ever.

You know you just stuck a dagger in Sam Kinison's heart don't you?

:wink2:

Now wait Hos, he says he has always known Newman had talent, but not worth the over Suggsie.

Personally I think that is crapola, because I can read his comments.

But that was a remark he made to me this past week after our slam dunk of Philly.

I couldn't resist.

If Dale does a Newman article there will be even more irony. (Hoping Dale remembers the night in Chat he almost banned "Sam.")

I called him a liar.

He said he wouldn't respond. He would let the others on the board reply.

I find his comments absolutely amazing. He may be the Art of the Cowboys.
