Terrance Steele contract

2-5 LOL shows your lack of football intelligence. And you’re always negative who are you trying to kid? Yourself? Next positive post you make will be like finding a needle in a haystack of hate.
Please explain what you mean by 2-5 and how it’s relevant to the thread….or are you simply trolling and looking for fights?

You brought it up in post #32. Why lie about things that can be disproven in 15 seconds?

Please….if you have any decency to you, explain to me why you brought up 2-5 and how it’s relevant to the discussion at hand.
Well, bless you for asking .... but we know the answer to this.

You must have schooled him about something and now he's in revenge mode. Pretty much normal mode for him just with even less concern for factual relevance.

yeah and nobody's ever seen anything like it before either! You're one of the guys that have foggy glasses and can't see that this ship isn't going anywhere with the person driving it!! Once you get out of the waters, maybe you can help!
..lol you're classic, mate. From zero to hero.

Pretty much lol. he’s been that way for a couple years now towards me. Ever since he tried telling me that a 3-4 defense was a bad thing because it’s a bad defense against the run he’s just called me names and labeled me a hater.

I’d be curious to get his thoughts on a 3-4 defense now that CP is in charge.

Guess I missed this.......so he took a pay cut but his salary is now guaranteed through 2027.

Cowboys cut pay of $51M lineman, will he respond with his best season?

. Instead, they reworked his contract this spring to bring down his money and cap hit.

That likely was a front office decision they didn't want to spend the draft or financial capital to improve on the position this year, knowing that the offense can compete at a high level with him as a starter; they've done it time and time again.

The team saved almost $10 million of cap space with the new deal, which is essentially a guaranteed two-season pact with a team option and friendly terms if they want to keep him on board in 2028.

which means he is here through end of 27. no way Jerry lets him go now.

For those who are wanting him replaced, I do think this shows that the staff thinks more highly of him than many fans do and has no intention of replacing him. He has his pass protection problems but is a strong run blocker. They are not going to take a $20 million dead cap hit next year to cut him ... and I'm not sure they'd even cut him the next year since his $10 million hit is virtually the same as what he'll cost.

I would like to see them have an open competition, which is what No-Schott has promised at pretty much every position. If Thomas or Cornelius or Shelton emerges, I'd rather see us get them on the field than not do it because of salary.

LT can’t block.

RT almost as bad.
This year on offense is going to be about Guyton's improvement or lack thereof and hoping we have an adequate replacement if he can't. I still think that Tyler Smith is the nuclear option there and then we'd making drafting a left tackle a priority next year.

I believe they feel that Steele is an adequate starting right tackle. I do, too, based strictly on our need to focus on defense, but we do need to continue trying to improve the position. I'm not sure what to expect of Shelton. We took him in the same round that we got Doug Free, but it also was the same round where we missed on Josh Ball.

Straight talk.....Schotty doesn't have the authority to bench Steele. Maybe Guyton (and I'm not with him either), but def not Steele with his contract. Stephen and/or Jerry will make that call. JMOP

With most teams, I think you can follow the money. Owners don't like paying players big bucks to sit on the bench.

He isn’t that good, never was, and should never have been given that contract.

Even scarier is that until we see if progress was made on the other side, Steele is the best tackle on the team. Think about exactly that for a second.

This why Guyton is probably the key. The job is his because of the investment to get him…that’s how it works in Dallas, which we all know. He basically HAS to have improved a great deal.
A lot of this feels like Jerry. Its hard to admit a mistake.

Both the LT and RT need to go.
