I know that people are down on Terrance Steele. They want the Cowboys to cut him and save the cap space. Would they be able to trade him for that fourth round pick we are missing? That would solve two problems. What say you?

I don't think they'd get a 4 for him, but I would gladly take that for him. I am interested to see if Adams can coach him up and get him back on track. He seemed to be able to get the most out of some JAG players in AZ. Felt like Steele regressed with Solari these past 2 years.

I would agree with what you are saying. I would hope Adams can coach him up and make him a better player

I say that's putting a lot of faith in Guyton even if he moves to RT. Also, that would be putting faith in Richards n Waletzko. It doesn't seem like a sound strategy to part with Steele rn, especially when the new coach wants to run the ball more.

no one in their right mind would trade a 4th round pick for a player, who has never recovered from his injury, is getting older, with a huge contract upcoming, and is a liability....much less a 4th round pick. except Jerry Jones who has now done it twice trading for other teams trash.

If they can get a 4th round pick, take it. Bengals may do this trade, they need OL.
They been drafting OL though, and had a few injured last season.
However, they may pick another 1st rounder this year as well.

Trade Steele, even for. 5th or 6th, get rid of the contract, pick Josh Simmons from Ohio State in the 1st round. Maybe a slight trade down. If he doesn't move up the board.
CBS has him at 17 right now.

Simmons playedLT, so Guyton can move to RT, Smith at LG. Martin may retire, or I seen rumored he may sign with Bengals. They have some options who to plug in at RG.

I think the knee injury has jacked his career.

I think it's always an option you only need one team I mean it's kind of funny that our cast offs that fans don't like that we're like ready to give up on they go to other teams IE Connor McGovern Connor Williams TylerB, these guys were pretty much talked about the same way as steel you know they're pretty good they're solid but they get beat by better competition blah blah blah and they go off and get a starting job somewhere else and then we come back and say hey look our players are playing in championship games in Super Bowls and yet they're the same players they were when they left here, and yet they're the same players they were when they left here.

yes, Steele struggled but he's been better of late he has good moments. he probably is a cap casualty, but it only takes one team to make a trade and a fourth rounder seems possible..

I mean, I bet if they look at the tape, they're probably viewing them very much how the others viewed our players who left here and found jobs easily and that's just on the offensive line. I'm just talking about across the board players leave here they are not friends of the fan base they're happy to see them go and then they go look at them play somewhere else go man they're pretty solid aren't they..

The problem here is this debate keeps coming up and you all are looking for pro bowlers and all pros and that is not how other teams build their roster I mean there can only be so many stars and so many highly paid players and then you have to fill them in with guys that can sometimes just get their job done they may not be special or elite and I'm not sticking up for steel I'm just saying this is how our fan base acts I hate a guy he leaves he's successful or at least solid elsewhere and then they realize maybe they shouldn't have broke up with their significant others just because they had a few flaws the flaws weren't quite as bad as the next person LOL

I remember the same things were said about Doug free until Doug free left and we had a turnstile trying to figure out who's gonna replace him for years so yeah be careful what you wish for because the next person or we can go years trying to find a replacement or it could be here yes it could be Guyton..

I'm hoping this is what the new staff is doing right away is watching tape on these bubble guys and doing deep search into if they need help there and they need to cut these guys trade them get them in the draft replaced this is what the new staff needs to do come in with open eyes don't have any judgments and watch a lot of tape and figure out can this stuff be fixed and if not yeah time to move on.

I mean if The Mavericks can basically give Luka away, you know wonderful GM they have over there, could have got a whole lot more in the draft, I'm sure we'll find a way to get something for steele LOL.

I don’t think we could get a pick that high for Steele. Especially this time of year when teams have so many options to upgrade their team in free agency without giving up a draft pick.

Once again the Cowboys are caught flat-footed.

Trading Steele would save about $4.6 million Designating him a post-June 1 cut saves about $14 million but that save doesn't hit until after June 1, when the best free agents are already signed to other teams. Plus it leaves I believe $11 million in dead money on the books for next year.

Its the kind of trade I'd like Dallas to make, except they do not have a backup plan. In my world, I would have thought about trading Steele, or cutting him, 2 years ago. So they can move Guyton to RT but then who plays LT? Are we ready to believe Richards or any of the others is ready for that job? It is a question mark. I am not even sure Guyton will play well at RT. But I know that being weak at both tackles is not the position we want to be in.

As for Steele's trade value, he's due $13.25 million this year and next and $16.25 million and $16.75 million the two years after that. Who wants to take that contract on? I think his salary is going to hurt his trade value. He might be worth more in a trade in September if some team loses a RT to injury.

Any team offers a 4th for Steele the Cowboys should take it in a NY minute. Last year I thought he would be better a year removed from his surgery. Against the better DE's he got owned.
You clearly aren't watching this team I'm not surprised either, we'd be the only team to give up a fourth for him hell maybe a 3rd because we see the POTENTIAL lol

You all make me laugh, and not in a good way ,like very sarcastically, sitting here reading these professional takes from a forum on the Internet..

like flat footed in what way? like in your opinion??

What if their plan is to keep him or have him restructure his deal ,maybe they have a plan that you don't know about, because you're not entitled enough to be in the know? you know like you don't live up there at the star, I always wonder if you do you guys have like spyware keystroke, like are you reading their emails, or do you have a like a phone tap are you listening to what's going on there because everyone you really think you know more than an actual staff that was built to take care of this kind of stuff... No ,it's not Jerry Jones alone it's not the Jones family sitting around their family kitchen table talking about this.. they literally have 1200 employees which has a lot of PROFESSIONAL management in between them, LAYERS OF HELP, and the team they handle stuff like this.

They're not the only team in the world that have players like this that are tweeners they haven't shared what to do with them they pay them they're underperforming their contracts and now they got to figure out what to do with them..

this is not new and this is not your Forte, because if it was you wouldn't be acting like an expert on the Internet..
I mean you guys just are missing your calling those of you should be selling yourselves to these professional sports teams and showing that wonderful deep resume on how you know how to build a $10 billion sports franchise and keep it running smoothly I mean from behind your phone or your desk or your iPad you guys are just missing your call and you could be making tons of money because you guys not only are great at team building and managament..

Most of you also can tell the future you're nostradamus everyone here knows everything and forecasting the future you should be billionaires and I'm not even sure why you're here wasting your time..lmao:popcorn::laugh::lmao::facepalm:.

Well said. It’s much easier to get more trade value during the season than now. A team desperate for help in the regular season is much more likely to “overpay” to acquire someone. This time of year it’s much harder to get big trade value because of free agency. Teams can sign someone without giving up a draft pick.

Plus we fans usually over-value our own players. Almost as much as our front office, lol.

Your point about Steele’s contract is the other problem for a trade. Why would a team trade for a guy with a fairly hefty payday next year? This is why if we want some cap relief and move on from Steele cutting him as a June 1 is better. And…a June 1 cut is announced way before June 1 allowing teams to still negotiate with FAs with the cap savings before they officially take effect. Not that our FO will do that….

I have been saying this for years, especially during TC.

The other issue, this FO, over valuing players, and think they can still "like their guys" in Steele, will restructure his contract to get cap relief, and kick that can further down the road. They seem to like contracts with "let's screw ourselves" restructure clauses.
As I also been saying. They think they outsmart everyone when they out dumb themselves.

Agreed Jazz.

I would add - one of this organization’s biggest mistakes is worry waaaaaaay too much about “overspending”. The teams winning NOW don’t think that way.

Put it this way: If you think you have a team that could compete for a championship (like we should have in ‘21-23 seasons) it is definitely time to spend and take risks. If you’re worried about the future instead of now you are wasting opportunities to compete.

Look at the rams under their aggressive GM Les Snead. He has kicked tons of cans down the road and STILL taken two different teams with two different QBs to SBs in the last 6 seasons. And they’ve made the playoffs after allegedly mortgaging their future.

The lesson our FO needs to learn is this: Being too careful and cautious makes you mediocre. Or worse it makes you be what we were in 2021-23; a good team needing a couple of pieces to get better with a front office that doesn’t understand how to manipulate the cap aggressively.
