Terrance Steele Trade?

Well said. It’s much easier to get more trade value during the season than now. A team desperate for help in the regular season is much more likely to “overpay” to acquire someone. This time of year it’s much harder to get big trade value because of free agency. Teams can sign someone without giving up a draft pick.

Plus we fans usually over-value our own players. Almost as much as our front office, lol.

Your point about Steele’s contract is the other problem for a trade. Why would a team trade for a guy with a fairly hefty payday next year? This is why if we want some cap relief and move on from Steele cutting him as a June 1 is better. And…a June 1 cut is announced way before June 1 allowing teams to still negotiate with FAs with the cap savings before they officially take effect. Not that our FO will do that….
If we either trade him or release him, we will open up some money to resign Osa. I would prefer the trade, if possible, to get a draft pick back as well

The issue I have with moving on from Steele is it opens up another hole. They already have a ton of those so unless they can sign a FA I think they are stuck with him.

I also think the oline played quite a bit better once they started to run the ball more and weren't facing every elite pass rusher in the NFL.

That's what you face in the playoffs. He's a good run defender but not good enough in pass pro. He can't be on the team next year

I say that's putting a lot of faith in Guyton even if he moves to RT. Also, that would be putting faith in Richards n Waletzko. It doesn't seem like a sound strategy to part with Steele rn, especially when the new coach wants to run the ball
Move Guyton over to RT, move Tyler to LT, and play Bass at LG which he has done well. Steele is a weakness, should do something there

I know that people are down on Terrance Steele. They want the Cowboys to cut him and save the cap space. Would they be able to trade him for that fourth round pick we are missing? That would solve two problems. What say you?
After his last 2 years idk if any team woul ld trade a 4th for him

The NEW OL coach should have a say.

However, and i am harping on this,

Dont make any trades until we know for sure what Shot is allowed to do. Rebuild or win now.

if its win now, keep him, chemistry is important and you know what you have with the devil you have now.

If shot is allowed to build, depends on teh trade, value of these guys is low.

The trends change faster than teams can keep up. yesterdays wildcat is someones today tush push.

I wish Dallas would go back to what works for them, or whatever the new staff wants, but we all know Owner JJ, GM JJ and Coach JJ has a lot of say.

if you are asking me to share my thoughts....I dont think we can fetch a 4th for him.

Nobody is going to trade for him and the only way out of Texas for Steele is if Jerry offers another organization a 4th rd pick to take him...........................Oh, wait a minute, he doesn't have a 4th rd pick because he already traded that for another slug or better yet, another PROJECT on the offense side of the ball!

I think it's always an option you only need one team I mean it's kind of funny that our cast offs that fans don't like that we're like ready to give up on they go to other teams IE Connor McGovern Connor Williams TylerB, these guys were pretty much talked about the same way as steel you know they're pretty good they're solid but they get beat by better competition blah blah blah and they go off and get a starting job somewhere else and then we come back and say hey look our players are playing in championship games in Super Bowls and yet they're the same players they were when they left here, and yet they're the same players they were when they left here.
Those players you mentioned weren't all that great against better competition even on their new teams. Connor McGovern and Biadiaz were good, even excellent, against lesser competition, but were manhandled by the better d-linemen they went up against. McGovern was added to the Pro Bowl (I thought we were playing him out of position anyway) because Creed Humphrey has more important things to worry about. But I will say that Buffalo's coaching staff get more out of him than our coaches ever did. So, to your point, he's not the same player in Buffalo that he was here. I watched Biadiaz in the NFCCG, and he had the same issues posters here *****ed about for years when going up against big, strong beefy DT's, although from what I observed in other games he was more consistent week to week. To that point, he too is not the same player he was in Dallas. Williams isn't even playing anymore. He just decided 2/3's of the way into the season to walk away.

Maybe McGovern and Biadiaz are better with their new teams because they have better coaching or better players around them. I honestly don't think they would have improved with us. But I admit that I am not a fan of our OL or DL coaching.

I think Steele would have sneaky good value on the trade market. Hes not nearly as horrible as people want to make him out to be, and hes likely cheaper than finding a FA starting caliber RT.

I doubt the Cowboys let him go though. They dont have the depth along the OL many think they do, and with Guyton having a horrible rookie year it would be dangerous to go into the season with two unknowns at your tackle spots.

Anyone else read that with a British accent?

If Cowboys designate him as a June 1st cut the Cowboys would save 14 mill.

I would not do it yet. I would move Guyton over to the right side to compete with him and if Guyton is as good or better than Steele, then I would trade him. That also means we would have to give Richards first crack at LT or move Smith (which I'd only want to do if Richards fails).

You know I hate to give up on anybody until we have a offensive line coach relevant in this millennium.

Guyton is more of a weakness than Steele, you comfortable going with Guyton and having no safety net?

What safety net? Steele ranked poorly last year. He was an undrafted pick who has spent 5 season in the league. Dallas can't settle for poor play. As for Guyton he has a lot of work to do heading into his 2nd year and it would be worth while to invest into another OT but hanging on to Steele I think would be a mistake. Designate him as a June 1st cut and save 14 mill
