Terrance Steele Trade?

What safety net? Steele ranked poorly last year. He was an undrafted pick who has spent 5 season in the league. Dallas can't settle for poor play. As for Guyton he has a lot of work to do heading into his 2nd year and it would be worth while to invest into another OT but hanging on to Steele I think would be a mistake. Designate him as a June 1st cut and save 14 mill
I mean I don't completely disagree with what you're saying, but I think the flaw might be in how are you investing in OT? Replacing Steele might be more difficult than people assume.

I don't think holding on to a poor player is the answer, we can get another poor player or just maybe hit on a solid player be it the draft or FA but Steele has been a weak link for a while

And what you're saying is possible dont get me wrong, but other than Ronnie Stanley is there an actual upgrade over Steele? Maybe if you go for the Tyron Smith reunion??? Maybe I'm missing someone else? The draft hasnt had great odds of landing plug and play Tackles lately. I think if he were a free agent this year Steele would probably be a top 5 Tackle on the market and probably costs more than the $14M you save by cutting him.

no one in their right mind would trade a 4th round pick for a player, who has never recovered from his injury, is getting older, with a huge contract upcoming, and is a liability....much less a 4th round pick. except Jerry Jones who has now done it twice trading for other teams trash.
Definitely not for his contract.

I would take a chance over continue to pay a player who grades poorly vs pass and run blocking. He will cost the Cowboys 18 mill this year and will only go higher over the remainder of his deal. I'm sorry I don't think holding on to poor talent will get you any better.

Another team might be willing to exchange 7th rounders if they are less than five picks apart.

Steele is not a poor player. Neither is Dak. But the mob mentality blames our woes on those two players. Dak was second in MVP voting last year and people say he cant play. I gotta believe that having Adams coaching the OL is going to make Steele the player he was two years ago. And if you get Jeanty or a capable back, we finally have a running game and that, in itself, opens up the offense.

I said nothing about Dak. As for Steele he rated poorly as a pass blocker and graded out poorly vs run. I'm not making that up. I think Cowboys can bring in someone in FA who could do better at a cheaper price than 18.2 mill and the remainder of his contract only increases. Cowboys have a chance to save 14 mill. Should the Cowboys keep him then I hope new coaches can turn him around but as things sit right now I would be more willing to move on.

I know that people are down on Terrance Steele. They want the Cowboys to cut him and save the cap space. Would they be able to trade him for that fourth round pick we are missing? That would solve two problems. What say you?
Ahhhhg.....the old "Hey, this guy sucks and isn't even a good player on our crappy team....so let's trade him to another team for their draft picks. Also, let's trade the garbage out in the dumpster behind the stadium for the #1 overall pick....that would solve 2 (of our) problems as well.

I don't think they'd get a 4 for him
I don't think you got the memo: other teams don't actually have to agree to the idiotic trade proposals people come up with here. They're forced to take it.

I'll see your 4th rounder and raise you 2 first rounders for Steele. The stoopider the better! M - O - O - N That Spells Stupid!

Geez I hate Dumb Trade Proposal Season

Steele is a good run blocker and he's played a full year after coming off an ACL. You want to create a hole than bash Guyton if he can't fill it? In a run oriented offense Steele should be fine, that's my opinion, and right now he's probably the best OT on the team.

They aren’t trading him regardless.

Having an UDFA as a starter with a big contract validates then as football guys.

I would agree. If you are committed to the run this year Steele is a solid option

There could already be someone on the roster ready to move into a OL starters role.

The Cowboys loved Richards and he looked good when given the chance. Another off season and he could be 100% ready.

Trade? For what, a gallon of milk?

Why do people always think we can trade players they don't value for valuable assets?

Agreed Jazz.

I would add - one of this organization’s biggest mistakes is worry waaaaaaay too much about “overspending”. The teams winning NOW don’t think that way.

Put it this way: If you think you have a team that could compete for a championship (like we should have in ‘21-23 seasons) it is definitely time to spend and take risks. If you’re worried about the future instead of now you are wasting opportunities to compete.

Look at the rams under their aggressive GM Les Snead. He has kicked tons of cans down the road and STILL taken two different teams with two different QBs to SBs in the last 6 seasons. And they’ve made the playoffs after allegedly mortgaging their future.

The lesson our FO needs to learn is this: Being too careful and cautious makes you mediocre. Or worse it makes you be what we were in 2021-23; a good team needing a couple of pieces to get better with a front office that doesn’t understand how to manipulate the cap aggressively.
Even bigger lesson: Our GM sucks and isn't capable of running an org at the NFL level anywhere but into the ground.

Oh, my bad. Next time I will run by trade by you to make sure it's legitimate. Thanks Jerry!!

Terrence Steele would not command a 5th rounder . If you could grab a 5 take it. Draft another Tackle around 5 to compete with Thomas last years late draft pick and Asim Richards . Get a starter out of one of these candidates .

I’m interested to see who they hire for OL coach .

at the least, a conditional pick would be more warranted. A late round that would grow into a conditional 4th round based off Steele's performance, games started or played, etc.

- But to consider moving to trade or casualty cut Steele, we'd have to address his replacement. Is that Guyton to RT?
Or would we have to draft an immediate starter at RT early ?

- Asim Richards has to show he can stay healthy, but he displayed enuff to give hope as a capable backup - but not starter.

- Frankly after a seemingly strong finish at season's end by Steele., i'm doubting the club is that down on Steele to move him elsewhere.

His performance last year is not going to generate trade interest
