Yeah let's just ignore all the plays that Williams or Butler or couldn't win. Yeah Weeden didn't hit them when they were open, but it's not like they were open the entire game. I'm not sure exactly what people are expecting from this guy. He's gonna miss throws just like any backup quarterback would, but blaming this game on him when the receivers couldn't get open consistently, the OL couldn't open up many holes in the second half, and the defense couldn't stop a nose bleed I mean I just don't understand how people can sit and there and act like Weeden was why Dallas lost when there were so many others factors.
The point in this thread is about the receivers.
What play could Butler not win? He could have been open 100% of the time but Weeden was not going to throw him the ball unless he was 3 yards away.
"Receivers couldn't get open consistently" is total BS. They were open often and more than in many NFL games.
The OL can open up holes in the 2nd half because Atlanta was crowding the line because they had no fear of Weeden throwing past 10 yards. One of their players was quoted as saying they started cheating up when they realized that Weeden would not throw downfield. The lack of running then caused the defense to be on the field too much which was more than they could handle while only having 1 actual DE active for the game.
Weeden only missed the 1 throw to Witten. Missing throws was not the problem. Not making the throw in the first place was the problem.
