When is he coming back?

Terrell McClain had an ankle injury. I don't know when he will be back, but I expect several players to come back now that they are past the game.

He could end up being a very important player because he was expected to be the starting 1-tech which was by far the weak link on the DL in the game. Hayden was terrible which has a big negative effect on the other DL. The 1-tech need to occupy 2 blockers in order for the DL scheme to function correctly. Hayden didn't do that.

Something tells me that Hayden is still going to make the 53... I just get the feeling the team isn't as down on him as this board is, unfortunately. Maybe it has to do with the fact that he's still 2nd team 1T (well, 1st right now)

Hayden is awful, but to say he is stopping the progress of the all world Terrell McClain is a stretch. McClain still has to actually get on the field and take the job.

Exactly. The 1-tech has to win if they block him 1-on-1 and Hayden can't. That leaves the extra blocker free to block someone else.

What's going to work against Hayden (other than his level of play) is the shear amount of bodies on the inside:

McClain
Melton
Bishop
Coleman

On top of that you have Bass who's on the bubble.

In addition you have three guys in Crawford, Mincey and Gardner who can be moved inside on passing downs.

For a pure #1 technique DT, who'll be removed on sure passing downs, you probably have 500 snaps. I would think that McClain will get a lot of those.

Finally you have the whole Brent situation... if he comes back there's another #1 technique DT.

Hayden is gone. Yes, he is warrior but the Cowboys would be foolish to keep an aging, ineffective and pricey warrior over a young player with upside. Simply foolish.
