Just wondering what everyone thinks about Suggs. I know he was highly coveted when he first came into the league but I haven't heard much about him lately. Would he be a nice replacement/addition to replace Greg Ellis or split time with Spencer..Fill me in please.

His play has steadily dropped off. A one trick pony that tries to run around tackles. Gets some personal stats but his teams mainly always lose, going back to college.

he is not a need or a fit here.

Don't think we could afford him anyway Norsey. Right now have about $16 mil in cap space. Need between 7-8 mill for the draft picks and Canty/Barber.

That doesn't leave a lot left for resigning Hamlin, Davis another #2 WR and let's not forget Flozell Adams.

Plus Newman's contract extension is on the way.

What I am about to say will get me banned. So I will keep my mouth shut.

I will say something though that wont get me banned. Why the hell do we have first round money invested in Anthony Spencer if(By your standards) Were gonna blow 7-10 million on Suggs? Huh? Yeah, thats what I thought.

Because Spencer is another Ware, watch and see.

Don't think Spencer's another Ware, but I think Suggs will get more cash somewhere else or get franchised.

Spencer will be better than Suggs. Thats for sure. Suggs is a one hit wonder, and a one trick pony.

He has been on a couple of very good teams in his 5 year NFL career. 45 sacks in 5 years ain't to shabby, either. His 2007 season was not good, but neither was the team. He is a similar player to Ware, though I think Ware is better at this stage of their careers. That said, we don't need him.

No one likes Suggs as much as I do. There's no place on this team for him. No way he can play ILB or DE in this defense and we will not sign someone at OLB while we have Ellis, Spencer, and Ware.

Exactly. Unless you're getting rid of Ellis or Spencer then there is zero point to paying Suggs.

And, for what it would cost to have him, I see no reason that we'd even think about replacing Spencer or Ellis with him.

if we go after any FA LB........I want Karlos Dansby.

Personally, I think he would make a great replacement for Ayodele.

Ware, James, Dansby, Spencer.....that is one sweet starting LB group for the next several years....

Id like to add that Rex Ryan in my eyes is the best 3-4 defensive coach in the history of the NFL. And if he couldn't get Suggs to produce in the masking blitz scheme system what makes you think Phillips boring statue blitz defense will make him more effective(Yes, towards the end of the season I don't think ANY of our line backers moved around like in the beginning of the year.

I'm a big fan of Dansby myself.

Damn skippy!!!:money:

Yeah, true, but do you think Ellis is retiring this offseason? I don't see Dallas cutting him or getting a trade for him, so unless he's retiring I don't see why he wouldnt be back.

Ellis is neither going to retire nor be traded.
I just hope he's finally happy. If he is and is healthy for the full year it would be a huge help.

The guy will never be happy Hos. That's not in his nature. And it has nothing to do with football. He is a "worry-wart." And knowing many people like that in my life-- he won't change.
