pryor vs matt jones

seems pretty similiar. Lets see how this one pans out.
Atleast raiders didn't use a 1st rounder for him. Jags...lol

Good comparison although the Raiders said Pryor will be a QB. Both very good athletes, but neither have what it takes to be NFL QBs. I doubt either has what it takes to be successful in the NFL regardless of position. Of course Matt Jones already proved that opinion I had of him when he was coming into the league.

Far as I know, Pryor isn't a cokehead.
That's what I was thinking.
Matt Jones' downfall was his work habits and off the field partying, not his physical skill set.
I've not heard that Pryor is big into drugs, nor have I heard that he has a terrible work ethic.
They don't seem comparable to me.

Jamarcus Pryor.

JaMarcus Russell was not nearly as good an athlete as either Jones or Pryor. Russell was huge and had a strong arm, but he could not move or run that well. Russell would be better compared to Ryan Leaf or the hefty lefty from Kentucky Jared Lorenzon.

The real debate should be... why did the NFL penalize Pryor for NCAA infractions? Crossing over the line in my opinion and opening a can of worms. Just surprised that the players union hasn't stepped up and said anything. We all know Pryor said he would agree to do the time in order to get in the draft, but now that he is drafted... why hasn't he gone back on what he said? There is no way that suspension would be upheld imo. No precedence for this and causes questions about coaches doing the same thing in running to the NFL when they break the law. Is this going to be one big league now... NFL/NCAA?

They are wanting to send a message to college kids that you can't take part in wrecking a program, then jump to the NFL with no ramifications leaving the university to fend for itself...

The NFL wants to take care of college programs as that is their minor leagues...

And that is what truly should have happened if Goodell wanted to send a message instead of crossing the line because now he is going to make his money regardless of what he did in college. For now, all Pryor had to do was say... oh, I won't appeal it and I am sorry for my actions, now draft me and give me some more money. Legally, he could easily go back on this stance and appeal the 5 games and should win.

Like I mentioned above, if this is the case, they should have allowed the 5 game suspension to stand for Pryor in the NCAA in not even letting him in the NFL. That would have sent more of a message then allowing him in imo.
