Terry Glenn could be held out of Sunday's game due to expected rain in Washington.

Glenn was expected to come off the bench behind Sam Hurd, but the fact that he'll sit if the field is in bad shape makes him a game-time decision. The Cowboys want to protect his knee, but if he sits, Glenn's first test would come in the playoffs.

I could live with it. In fact, I would prefer it. No need to risk anything. Hes getting his time during practice. No need to rush him onto the field in a meaningless game.

That kinda sucks. And hoofbite, do you want a guy in his 30's coming back from knee surgery working off rust and on timing after not playing what would be over a year come Divisional Playoff time since the Wild Card.

That's is too bad, but with those conditions understandable.

Yes I do. Hes in practice now. Give him another two weeks of practicing and Ill take him any day of the week, twice on sundays.

You greatly underestimate the difference between simply practicing and getting in game rhythm between QB's and receivers after over a year with a new Offensive Coordinator. Hell, even Peyton's willing to suffer injuries with that limited O-line Sunday so he can get more reps with Gonzalez and Harrison before the playoffs. An elimination game isnt the time to get in game time groove. December is.

Better safe than sorry. I'd like to see Stanback out there anyway.

now is this true or is his knee bothering him a tad and they don't want to say?

whatever the case i'm reluctant to allow a WR who's not played a snap in a game all year long to suddenly start for us. spot duty? maybe but that would likely be a decoy.

football isn't something you can walk into and do well w/o practice and gametime honing of those skills. i don't think so anyway. we'll see.

As long as the field holds up and Glenn gets in early (i.e., 1st quarter), and let's assume it's not an absolute thunderstorm, I think Glenn will get a few series in.

If it's the 3rd quarter and the field's ripped up and it's raining hard, that's something else.

Not ideal, but sitting out this week isn't a huge deal.

How many snaps would he have taken even if the field conditions were ideal? It couldn't be all that many.

Better to play it safe and try to get sharp in practice.

Again Iceberg, this isn't just any Wide Receiver, this is arguably our best and most consistent receiver last year.

Why in the world would you relegate a weapon like that to Spot Duty?

I think you overestimate the importance of game time with Glenn. He's a vet who is the epitome of a professional. He knows there's a difference, but he's been there before, and I'm sure his practice regimen includes as close to a game simulation as he can get.

How long did it take Greg Ellis to be a beast when he came back from injury?

Depends on the condition of the field and how slick it is. They won't play him on a slick field for sure. However, if it does not rain after the tarp is taken off, I could see Glenn playing the first qtr and maybe part of the second.

You dont think not playing for over a year and coming back with a new O-coordinator wont affect him? It would be foolish to think two weeks of practice wouldnt pay off, but we're talking about a guy in his 30's with some healing knees who's not gonna be getting pushed around til playoff time. His style of running could put him at risk if he doesnt get a minimal amount of bumps and bruises before you just throw him in there for a playoff game.

He's been around the team, I don't see how Garrett has anything to do with it. He knows the offense. If your main concern is getting him some "bumps and bruises," just have him go through contact drills at practice.

And what's the alternative? Send him out there regardless of the conditions and risk it even more than he would be by playing in perfect conditions?

Add in the fact that we don't know how long Romo will play, if at all. He definitely doesn't need game work with Brad Johnson.

All I'm saying is Glenn's the ultimate professional. He'll be prepared no matter what game is his first one.

Doesn't sound like ideal conditions. Why don't we wait and see what happens with the weather on Sunday. Lord knows the weathermen around here don't know what is going to happen tomorrow.

I agree with everything you said and I never said throw Glenn in there to the water dogs which is why I said the conditions suck. It's about working your way to a starter after over a year of not playing consistently for 3 hours and your only sizeable break coming at halftime.

Well, that's too bad. I would love to see TGlenn on the field just to see how he performs. Oh well, he'll be ready for the playoffs.
