That was so much fun we may put the Cup in the lobby and let fans come by and rub it," (Quote from Texans owner Bob McNair)

I came across this quote in one of the articles I was reading after the game.

CAN YOU FREAKING BELIEVE THIS, DISPLAYING A FREAKING PRESEASON TROPHY LIKE IT IS A LOMBARDI OR SOMETHING.

So their fans are going to come by and rub it....LOL!!!!

What a loser franchise, I would be freaking embarrassed if my team was displaying a freaking preseason trophy and acting like they just won the SB.

Freaking sad:laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

I have no words to tell you how little I care about the Governor's Cup, until it's on the line in a regular season game...

The cup exists, the Texans won it this year, what do you expect them to do, stash it away in a closet?? They're not allowed to have a little fun with the whole thing??

Hey, look at it from the owner's perspective:

Anything to sell tickets, right?"

:wink2:

As explained last night, up until 1996, it was a tradition between the Oilers and the Cowboys. And it was always put up for grabs every year, regular season and preseason. For some reason, after the Texans entered the league, it was just limited to the regular season. That was another slap in the face after the 19-10 debacle.

Anywho, it's no biggie. They'll have a little fun with it until the 'boys play them again next year in the preseason. One thing I noticed was yesterday there was a lot of regional play between teams. So, I'm wondering why some of these other teams don't have "Cups" or trophies of some kind.

Having some fun with it and acting like you just won the SB is two different things. That team is obsessed with beating us, they make a tackle at the line of scrimmage and 5 guys start high-fiving each other, jumping up and chest bumping, and running 10 yards down the field to wave at the crowd.

Now the owner is going to display this cup and fans can go by and rub it, like it is a freaking genie lamp!!!

I guess it is a matter of perspective, when you have 5 lombardis displayed and another team is displaying a freaking preseason cup, just kinda seems silly and desperate on their part.

I really thought I was going to see confetti and fireworks after the game last night, really sad when you think about it.:(

Did you miss all the celebration by our guys at the beginning of the game when they were making some big hits and having some big stops?

Yeah I think it's a bit much to put the cup on display, but let's not act like the 'boys werent' doing just as much hooting and hollering as the Texans' early on until it was clear that they weren't going to come back.

They hoot and hollar over big hits in practice. I don't think there are any trophies for best team in practice.

I have never seen Dallas act like that over a preseason opponent, Houston was treating this like a playoff game.

What is funny is that most Dallas fans could care less about that franchise, really is a one-sided rivalry.

The point is, he's trying to make like the Texans were doing something abnormal by celebrating, when IMO, the 'boys were doing just as much as they were.

and the Governor's cup thing has been around forever. Shoot, even the Rangers and the Astros compete for the Silver Boot when they play one another. The Governor's Cup was something that kinda lost it's luster when Oilers left Houston.

The 'boys and Texans may be the only NFL team that has a trophy, but this is pretty much the weekend when in-state rivalries are played. If more NFL teams did it, it wouldn't be so weird.

You didn't see Bradie James acting the fool after he made a couple big plays last night?

Yeah the Texans brought more intensity than the 'boys, but then the 'boys should've been ready to play. It was THEIR dress rehearsal too...and they got undressed by the opponent.

Off topic here, but WG, why does Beast_From_East posts stay at the 666 count?

Of course after a big hit, players celebrate, just like James did last night. My point is that the Texans were acting like that on almost every single play, even the routine stop at the line.

My point is that Houston seemed to care alot more about the game then Dallas did, thats all.

Let them display their preseason cup while we display our 5 Superbowl trophies.

And my point is so were the 'boys...at least in the beginning of the game. Dissin the Texans for it is pointless when our guys were doing it too.

They did, but the 'boys should have cared more too. They came out flat and unfortunately the loss was the end result.

Thing is, the 'boys were the Texans measuring stick, just like the Colts and Broncos were the 'boys measuring stick. This wasn't the Texans superbowl, but they now have reason to believe they can play with anybody. Whereas the 'boys used the Colts to believe they can be elite.

Clev-Det has this 'Great Lakes Classic' thing going.

Though I've never seen anything great or classic about it, they do share a lake.
