Yea I am sure he is a good guy, seems like a nice person.

SInce I only read that paper when we play them I probably am unfairly judging him.

But I dont care. He always has some stupid stuff to say. All his whining in recent years about Texas Stadium came off as childish.

And For the record I fully expect them to win saturday night and gloat about it. THey got it killed the other night in new orleans and now they have to make a good showing for the home fans, and imo home teams should always win preseason games.

So I expect them to be gloating and talking trash come sunday morning and I expect some snide comments and sarcastic shots at romo and jerry from justice and mcclain come sunday morning.

Just like in 07 when they were all going crazy down there about how they need to prove how good they are and how all those number 1 picks were wasted up front.....the team came out and played like it was the superbowl in beating us.

Which of course clearly resembled the season they had!!!l ol

Last year he wrote an article for Thanksgiving and talk about growing up in the Dallas/FW area and how he and his family would get together and watch the Cowboys and how he loved Meredith and Lilly as well as the special times he had watching the Cowboys with his dad. I wish I could find that link.

I will say like even some of the fans around here John will tell you what he thinks even if he ruffles some Cowboys feathers.

Another tid bit a couple of years ago he invited me to the Texas Sports HOF held at Baylor where Micheal Irvin was being inducted and Cowboys Bill Lamaz was also there and is a good friend of John.

I wonder if the writer screwed up his Mathews quote. When I was a kid the Oilers' training camp was in San Angelo. I guess they later could have moved it to San Antonio, but I don't think San Antonio has a outdoor site that could handle a training camp.

I know the Oilers did train in San Antonio when Mathews was a player over at Trinity University

Rivalry? Where? In what context?

Both teams have faced off twice... in history. That is practically zero. The Cowboys have faced the Rockets and Astros zero times. Are they rivals as well?

I am just throwing out equal amounts of bull**** here. Saaay. If they want to say there is a Cowboys/Texans rivalry, can they at least call it the Texas Leap Year Rivalry (with an asterisk)? Not that both teams meet on leap years, but the games do happen every four years, so...

Dallas has played the Oilers\Texans more than 2 times which is what the fans look at

That's stupid...Texans fans aren't any more polite/rude than Cowboys fans.....or any team for that matter.

I will respect them for that just as soon as they re-adopt the Oilers name and logo. Heck, Cleveland did not allow Art Modell to run off with their franchise name...

John is a nice guy and all but he plays up to whatever audience he has.

I've heard him pick the Cowboys before. I've also heard him talk alot of smack about them on his various radio shows there.

I think he's better at talking movies and that is maybe the topic he should stick with.

There is no rivalry in the Metroplex. In Houston it's bigger than almost any game they play.

I agree. Last time I went to a Oiler vs Cowboys game was 1991 and some idiot behind us thought it would be cool to throw a beer at us so he did. I thought it would be cool to go kick his ars so I did. All me and my family were doing was cheering the Cowboys not making any remarks good or bad towards the Oilers or their fans.

Adams took the Oiler name to Tenn, their 1st 2 season in Tenn they were the Tenn Oilers after 98 they became the Titans.

Yes I know. My question is why the city of Houston allowed him to do so? Cleveland did everything possible to keep the Browns' name and they succeeded. From my outside perspective, Houston could not have cared less what Adams did with the name if he moved his team (which he eventually did).

It is a preseason game and who wins or loses that the game does not matter. The only the rivalry is Texan fans envy of the Cowboys.
:lmao:

In fact the only thing Texan fan has held onto is their opening win against Dallas 6 years ago (Dave Campo should have been fired on that plane ride [/B]home)

no he should have been guilllotined at Reliant Stadium

I remember going to a Cowboys/Oilers game and the defense must have sacked the Oilers QB about 8 times. The Dome was an awful place to watch a game. It was configured for baseball and the football viewing sucked.

Now the Dome is rotting and I've heard they just don't know what to do with the darn thing. What a dump. What a shame.
