At least he isn't as ugly.

One thing is certain Baylor will be moving up at least one slot this week.
Maybe. It also wouldn't surprise me if A&M jumped up to #9. I've seen weirder things.
It's clear that SC was massively overrated
I'm not sure how you can lose what the lost and actually get rated higher in preseason.
They should not have preseason polls, but I guess most of us like it

Of course he was.On question that'll come up if Aggie QBs start putting up huge numbers each year....was Manziel a system QB?
The problem isn't preseason polls. It is the people who are polled. As you said, there was no reason for SC to be ranked so high based on the players they had to replace from last season.
Of course he was.
I don't agree at all. Manziel's strength was improvisation and throwing on the run, not playing to any particular system. The spread offense certainly helped him though, giving him room to run around.
I have read articles that state that A&M basically threw out most of their playbook when they figured out what Manziel was, and what he was capable of, and played to his strengths. Obviously it worked, but it's not the system that Sumlin ran before with Keenum or that he'll be running with Hill. Hill was effective as an Air Raid QB last night.
Ags will be a force! Just hope Strong's Longhorns have a decent year.
repeat after me, Mack brown is gone, Mack Brown is gone, Mack Brown is gone. No more orange slices, no more tackling onto soft mats in practice, no more smoothie machines in the weight room, no more Mack freaking Brown. That will carry me through this year no matter what.
SC had a new 3-4 defense which got gashed bad. It was a horrid defensive game for them. We'll see if they can recover, week one is always a crap shoot.
You nailed it.
They lost many of their best players on defense to begin with--I mean some real superstars-- then they changed to an entirely new scheme.
That was a total recipe for disaster to open the season against an opponent like A&M.
It was a total snowball affect and you could tell those guys had no idea where they were going.
Since then, they have adjusted nicely.
They've beaten two ranked teams who's only losses were to South Carolina.
Not remotely the same team now that played that opening day game.
College football can be pretty wild.
For example..right now NC State is beating Florida St 24-7 in the 1st half in Raleigh and unranked Arkansas is beating A&M..also only in the 1st half. Not saying they'll win, but just sayin'.
SCar had no business being ranked high to start the season.
The fact they were 13 before the Missou loss is a joke.
Nothing against them they had just lost too much the previous year to the draft.
And then lost to TAMU by what could have been 40 points.
SCar squeaked Georgia which is due largely to Georgia being insanely one dimensional and having no defense.
SCar might be a top 25 team by season's end but it will be at the very bottom of it if so.
TAMU is not a top 10 team. But they are pretty sound and definitely top 20.
Alabama will be hard to beat as they move forward because they've had time to develop.
Outside them I haven't been all that impressed by any other SEC teams.
It is a down year for elite level teams but I haven't seen anyone who looks better than Oregon, OU or Bama.
Those 3 should be top of the board with FSU around 6th or 7th.
I hope you are right about my Tide but I have my doubts. I just don't see a national contender. I've doubted them since the WVU game,
