Texas Church Shooting

Armed citizen chased him down and shot him in the neck is what I read.
Citizen that lived across the street from the church, came out with his own AR and exchanged fire with the shooter, I believe that's where he got shot in the neck. The shooter managed to get away, but the citizen waved down a passerby and gave chase until the shooter ran off the road.

When the instrument of destruction is a truck mowing people down on a bike trail it's the action of a mad man. When the instrument of destruction is a gun mowing people down in a church it's the action of an evil gun. Funny how we never hear about truck control. It's a shame how the death of innocent people is politicized in the media. God bless the victims and their families. May we all somehow find a peaceful resolution to the madness in the world today.

Yep, the new normal is that every month or so someone is going to snap and shoot at an outrageous number of people.

When Charles Whitman killed 16 in 1966, the country was beside itself. 16 is now a piker number.

Not sure what number is high enough to cause a change in how this are currently done... 100? 150? 327? I don't know. Just seems like todays numbers don't do anything as far as creating change.

Do not take this post as being political. I'm not blaming anyone. Just know the current system isn't working.
I don't know what kind of change your suggesting but I would say that it needs to be a four digit number multiple times and that might not be enough to change anything either.

I am disgusted at what’s going on in our Nation right now. I am disgusted by humanity.
Welcome to the club, it gets bigger every day.

I heard similar. I was in Texas for the first time for the season opener this year and there were lots of people carrying/strapped in the streets on Friday and Saturday not game day.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I mentioned this in the NYC post, but i still don't understand how people who do these things just go balls to the wall without any good kind of getaway plan. This tells me that people are so angry these days that their hatred has overwhelmed any shred of reason they had left.

I'm hearing the shooter did this because his ex wife's family goes to church there but they were not present for that mass. OK so if he wanted to kill his ex's family why go to the church and kill others to get the job done? Why didn't he just go to there house? My details might be wrong.

Lots of people can't deal with simple emotions anymore, and i think that is the root of this problem. Now terrorist shootings are different because that's a war motive.

What is our world coming to? I’m 63 years old and I am so scared for my children and grandchildren as things seem to be going down a horrible path. God bless those murdered and injured as well as their families. The world needs to wake up!

In dealing with tragedy and loss, I simply point out that there is a heaven and this isn't it.

And the fact that this happened in a church, illustrates the concept of free will, i.e, events are not preordained by God.

I believe social media exasperates the issue. These angry folks get on there and of course they have likes and shares with others of a similar mindset which further sends them down to the road to something irrational and deadly.

supposedly he is a rabid atheist and had been making comments like that on Facebook for quite a while

Jack the Ripper used a knife... Lot's of killers do.

But in this day & age it's the gun that claims most.

Again, I'm not sure what needs to change... I just know how we currently do things is not working.

I told my wife a couple of days before this happend that it would not surprise me if someone just wallked into a church and started shooting just because what they were preaching or teaching went against their beliefs. These pieces of garbage that do these things just want their "look at me" five minutes of fame and could care less if they die getting it. I went to the movie theatre last week for the first time in months and thoughts were on where is the fastest exit. Walked through Walmart on Saturday adn though of the gunman randomly shooting people. Now going to church is put to the test. I remember my church several years ago had spotters on the roof to make sure no ones car was being broken into when people were in service. Now we need spotters with scoped rifles, or a markman in the rafters with his rifle aimed at the congregation to protect as many people as they can.

he taught bible school.

I like how you use the term atheist as if it is a negative that is the reason for shooting children in a church for no reason.

Guns. Always has been and always will be until we get adults in the government that remove guns.

Yes ....that is called profiling.....it is how you prevent and solve crimes..... but the beards are pretty unique in that they don't go above the lip in most cases

But it is just one indicator.......you can ask if they are Muslim if you are renting a truck or plane or selling a weapon to a young Middle Eastern man with a huge beard if you need to narrow it down further..... if they say "No..... I am a pro football player or NBA star" you can be pretty sure they aren't terrorists

I'm so sick and tired of these criminal shootings, I don't have many words left to describe it. I also don't want to go off into a political rant and thus break the rules of the site. Suffice it to say, innocent people don't deserve to get shot. I don't care the people's race, color, religion, who they voted for, whatever. No one deserves this ****.

Im not saying this is the reason for the shooting but it might be. For the last decade or two they have been teaching kids and society to never offend anyone, no one should ever be offended in a face to face. Well offense still exists and the people are less capable of dealing with it now. I purpose they start teaching kids and society to deal with being offended rather then trying to prevent offense from taking place.

#7 - You will not post political discussions or comments.

I see a couple of people already trying to skirt the rules. I also happen to notice that most times it is the same few people who try to skirt the rules and make them political.

I see it...keep it up, you get benched. No further warnings, frankly you have had way too many warnings about not posting political post and yet some of you still do while trying to skirt the rules.

So if you get benched for it, that is your own fault.

This is yet another one of those types of posts that skirts the no political posts on this site.

You say it is a shame that the death of innocent people is "politicized" in the media....which is another way of bringing politics into the topic after you just did the same thing by trying to make some lame political talking point about guns being evil.

KNOCK IT OFF!

Yes, folks, let's avoid letting this thread turn political. Maybe we can all just agree that murdering innocent people is extremely wrong. I'm sure people have different views on how to deal with that, but please keep them out of this thread. Post them on a political board somewhere.

If we remove guns then we need to remove moving trucks by that same irrational....

the innocent children who were killed yesterday had a cause of death, what was it.

Trucks have a purpose. Guns do also, to kill.

Which is what they keep doing, Killing innocent people.

For those of you needing a place to express you political views on this, here's one such place: http://www.**************.com
