Texas Longhorn football great Cedric Benson reported dead in motorcycle crash

University of Texas football great and former NFL player Cedric Benson died Saturday night in a motorcycle crash in West Austin, family members and friends said early Sunday.


Austin emergency officials told the American-Statesman that they are investigating the crash in the 5600 block Mount Bonnell Road after 10 p.m. Saturday and had information that Benson and a passenger were killed. Two other adults who were injured in the crash suffered non-fatal injuries. Official confirmation by the Travis County medical examiner could come later in the day Sunday.

I said I didn’t know if he wore a helmet or not. One of my best friends was killed on a motorcycle because he wasn’t wearing a helmet. Grow up you little punk.

It’s worrying that he was arrested not long ago for speeding and a DUI

IF that was the case here that he was speeding and again drunk, I will say it’s a good thing it only ended up being him who died in the incident rather than taking someone else’s life with him (not that it’s a good thing he went either)

Very sorry to hear, terrible. I like motorcycles but I don’t ride them bc of other drivers.
I don’t know any facts of this just saying in general...the problem with a bike is you can do everything right and if there’s an accident, you always lose.
Had a buddy I graduated college with, great kid, got a BMW bike for himself for graduation, got killed on it in less than a year.
Cousin of mine nearly lost his spot at Top Gun bc some lady hit him while he was riding.
Sad to hear this news.

Benson sent out an Instagram photo of his motorcycle with 2 helmets on it mere hours before the crash (since taken down) so my guess is that he was probably wearing one. Regardless, whether he was or wasn't does nothing to change the fact this is a very sad day for Longhorns everywhere. Nobody deserves a tragedy like this.
