Is Colt McCoy staying next year?

I'd think he's the kind of kid who would, but at this point I really don't know... if he does go on and win the Heisman, maybe it would be time for him to make the jump to the NFL...

As a Horns fan, I surely hope to see him back next year...

I don't think there's any way the BCS has two teams from the same conference in the title game. The other BCS conferences would have a hissy fit.

I agree but it would make for an interesting arguement in support of that scenario playing out. If UT and OU continue to win and Alabama and PSU lose one or more games each, then probably USC or Florida would have to leapfrog OU in the polls to keep them from playing UT in the BCS Championship. If that happens then you want to talk about hissy fit? In any case, I'm all for chaos breaking out with the current system in place and am hoping that this will eventually lead to some type of a playoff system getting implemented.

when i saw their schedule i thought they'd lose at least 3 with this team now i'm not so sure they'll even lose one

Like draeger, I thought they were a year away... they're just SO young...

But the key, I think, is how quickly the offensive line has come together... that's one VERY good OL... Ulatoski and Dockery will be playing in the NFL...

He's a junior and unless he gets some really bad advice, he'll be expected to stay for his senior year. Honestly, I don't know if he'll ever be a legitimate NFL quarterback. He didn't even merit an honorable mention on this sportswriter's radar (at least not in the top 32 - including juniors):

http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/11041146

The only conceivable reasons I can see that Prisco would omit Colt from that list (even from the sublist of players who might move up to the top 32) are:

1) He's sure that Colt will stay in school, or

2) He's an idiot...

Now, going into this season I wouldn't have rated McCoy a first round prospect, he threw too many picks last year... he was much better his freshman season, then regressed as a sophomore (in large part because his offensive line wasn't that good last year)... but with the way he's playing this year, he's certainly moved back up into first round consideration whenever he does enter the draft...

I mean, he has NFL size, he has an NFL arm, he's highly mobile, he's quite productive at a high level of college competition, and he's SMART... that sure sounds like a legit NFL prospect to me...

SB, the way this kid comes off, my guess would be that he would consider turning pro if the Longhorns win the BCS Championship rather than he being awarded the Heisman. Of course the way things are currently looking for him and his team, both may happen this season.

Regardless, one thing is for certain, Colt McCoy is head and shoulders better than he was last year when he sufferred through what many termed his "sophomore slump".

I may have to reconsider this kid being able to go pro this year if he can keep his play up.

Texas Tech has me more concerned than OSU since they play them in Lubbock

Tech can score with anybody, but they simply don't have the defense to even slow the Horns' offense down... if they are to have any hope of winning that game, they'll have to put up 50 points... that's a tall order against that Horns defense... I was surprised to learn watching tonight's game that the Horns have the best scoring defense in the Big XII...

Yes sir, going into this season, and looking at their schedule, my hopes for the season were for the Horns to finish in the top 10... I truly didn't think they could contend for the national championship...

Let's just say that my sights are set a big higher now... what FUN this college season is turning out to be for me; the James Madison Dukes, who play their games 20 minutes from where I live, are the number 1 ranked team in the FCS (Division I-AA)...

It's a tough road this year in the Big 12, but he is quietly putting up the greatest season in NCAA history...

That being said, I think he stays his senior year...

Tech is a formidable opponent, but their defense is suspect. What will beat them is consistent play from the QB... and I think Colt can do that...

I think OK State will be their toughest opponent... they are a darn good team, and may be the best in the state...

On a side note... his numbers this year are off the charts. I don't know how he will translate in the pros but I liken him to Drew Brees...

McCoy has been simply amazing this year... he is putting up ridiculous numbers against good teams...

Not comparing the two situations but how much money did Jamaal Charles cost himself by not staying in school? I can't even imagine the type of year he would be having with this offense. I still can't believe he left early. Dumbarse.

I'm with you man.... anything that exposes the BCS for the joke that it is, I'm behind.

Problem is it's been exposed as a joke for about a decade and it's still with us. It literally makes me ill.

I absolutely LOVE Colt McCoy, but not sure about some of those things. Size and arm. He has ENOUGH size, and ENOUGH of an arm to play in the league but those will be things that NFL teams won't like about him. I seriously doubt he's 6'3." He doesn't look it standing by teammates, and he was measured at 6'1" as a senior in high school. And he has gotten stronger but he still doesn't have a rocket arm. And he's really buffed up but still looks a little thin at least looking at him as an NFL qb. But his mobility, he'd be one of the most mobile qb's in the NFL. His movement in the pocket and ability to make a big play downfield when things break down remind me of Romo. He's faster than Romo though for sure. And he seems to have all the other intangibles. Will be interesting to see how scouts see him.

If Colt is 6'1" Chase Daniels is 5'9".

I'm way more worried about Okie State than Tech. Tech = Missouri. Complex passing offensive scheme that overwhelms inferior opponents and no defense.

What I've always said about TT is that they look great against the cupcakes teams they always load their schedule with because they try to react to what Tech is doing offensiveley. Good teams tend to take control a bit more and disrupt the effeciency of the Tech offense. Once that happens they're nothing.

Oklahoma State seems to always play Texas tough. They play the role of giants killers very well. They're the only team I really see putting up any kind of fight against the Horns the rest of the way.

Well, Daniels definitely isn't over 5'11" I don't think.

Actually after watching the replay this afternoon, and seeing them after the game, Colt only looked no more than 2 inches taller than Daniel.

WOW, what a great game! Talk about a good, old-fashioned butt whipping. First 5 drives of 1st half, end w/ TD.

Possibly the two most satisfying wins I've enjoyed as a Horn, since I can't recall when.

Colt McCoy... I don't believe I've ever seen a player make such a dramatic turn-around from one season to the next.

Muschamp is a genius!

Hey okie-lite and "little bother"....

And again, remember you heard it here first weeks ago... Malcolm Williams is a STUD!!

They need to lock Muschamp down now and promise him the HC job when Mac retires...

I thought Daniels was on his tip toes when he was trying to molest Colt after the game.

I don't recall ever seeing a Horns team have a half of football like we witnessed last night......What a thing of beauty.

I certainly hope they have Muschamp signed sealed and delivered.....or he's gone.
