I was wrong about Texas this year. I thought they would lose 3 games, but they are a different team.

I was not sure that the energy that they showed in the Holiday Bowl would stay with them. I figured they would be the same flat team they had shown the last two years. The ones that got physically abused by K-State and A&M two years in a row. Those were not good teams, but they beat up on UT.

Something has changed and maybe the credit does go all to Muschamp and Applewhite because these kids play with a lot of emotion and energy. Maybe it goes to all the young guys that don't know any better. Whatever it is, it is working. They are still very young and may slip up along the way, but I won't count them out of any game now.

Of the 3 games I had them losing I thought they would be to either OU, Mizzou, Okie St. or Tech. They are 2-0 so far. OSU matches up well with UT, but have shown the penchant for choking away a big lead. Tech being 7-0 is not that big of a deal. Playing in Lubbock is always a difficult thing to do. I would favor UT in both games.

Hopefully Texas fans will start understanding the Mack Brown is a damn good HC and the Longhorns have seen great success under Mack Brown. For years seeing postings from some Texas fans how Mack Brown was not that great just really struck me as strange after all the guy has turned this program around since he got to Texas but few seemed to give him much credit

I think everyone gave him all the credit in the world for turning the program around. But once it was turned around fans didn't like losing so many big games, not winning conference..etc. I think they felt KINDA the same as Cowboy fans feel about Phillips right now. And he's usually seemed like a bad gameday coach, some of his decisions make you think he doesn't really..GET.. football. But overall I'm happy with him as a UT fan.

I understand that but just as Florida does not win the SEC every year or LSU does not win it does not change the fact that these are highly competitive teams who are always in the hunt. Face it Texas is not going to win the big 12 every year when you have a conference as tough as the Big 12 but Mack Brown has 10 wins or more in almost every season and a National Title he has coached at UT and that is fantastic. Mack Brown brings in top kids to play at this program and has put together a very good program and deserves to be ranked as one of the top coaches in the NCAA

I think it largely had to do with getting humiliated by Oklahoma several years in a row. Once he started winning some of those games his stock shot way up.

I'm thinking the Michigan win was the turning point for not only him, but the program. He is a great coach. But before the Michigan game, he was known as a coach who couldn't win the big game and running a country club atmosphere and was too loyal to his assistants (adding to the fact that OU kept beating them). Since that Michigan game, they have beaten two number 1 teams, a number 4 team, and a few more ranked teams.

The point was, until the MNC season, he was NEVER winning it. What is more frustrating than being top 10 every year, winning 10-11 games every year, yet never winning the conference championship? The other teams having runs like that were at least sprinkling conference championships in there from time to time. I'm not criticizing Mack though, just playing devil's advocate.
