Five in Austin only only two each in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Houston. I don't live in Texas, so does that match your view of truth?

Yes, though Lockhart is the BBQ capital of Texas. They aren't all on this list but Black's BBQ, Chisholm Trail BBQ, Smitty's Market, and Kreuz BBQ are all in Lockhart and all deserve to make this list.

For my money Smitty's Market in Lockhart and Franklin BBQ in Austin are the best in Texas.

I don't agree with the FtWorth choices they seem sort of random. I really like Cousin's food and go there often and I went to school with the Langoria's but I could name several places I would put above. I guess it depends on what the grading criteria is, they don't win the FtWorth lists that are put out.

It's all so subjective. I personally could make an argument that North Main BBQ in Euless should be on that list. And there's a gas station on Miller Rd, 2 blocks from GW Bush Tollway, right where it dead-ends into Lake Ray Hubbard, that sets-up a "seasonal BBQ trailer in his parking lot, that sells ONLY brisket, pulled pork and homemade hotlink sandwiches, that I've literally SWAM 50 yrds offshore, wadded through chigger-filled weeds, and walked 2 blocks barefooted on hot-A asphalt, just to get to.

The Austin area which includes Lockhart is awesome when it comes to BBQ, but don't bother with the Mexican food here, it's not that good. You go to San Antonio for that.

Been to Leon's in Galveston, wasn't that good.

Houston needs to add two:
1. Goode Company BBQ
2. Brown Sugar's

Also, my favorite place is Prasek's in Hilje, Tx.

I've had the pleasure of eating at about 1/4 of those. I have some more eating to do.

Goode Company BBQ is horrible. It wouldn't even rank in the top 10 in Houston alone.

Decent pecan pie, though.

Can't believe Fargos in Bryan made the list, only because it's unknown here in Bryan/College Station. I really like their food and they just moved into a decent building here in Bryan so now people in College Station can go and not be scared of getting carjacked.

Austin is in Hill Country. Hill Country is Barbecue.

Side note: I can't take this list seriously if Salt Lick isn't on here... have I just overlooked it? Also 3 Stacks is pretty darn good.
