Ole Miss offered every junior ranked in like the top 300.
Crazy stuff I know but they did. And that BS worked which sucks, because more will follow suit now.

UT has to get it's image in order quickly. Mack needs to prove he wants to win or they need to hire a new coach.

I believe Briles will end up at UT by next season.
Honestly, I think he needs to beat OU and either win the conference or go to a BCS bowl. If OU hangs another blowout on Texas next year ,which would be the 3rd straight blowout and 4th loss in a row to OU, I don't see how he survives the big wigs this time.

Sometimes the Longhorn fans may need to recall:

Mack Brown era

150-43 record. .777 winning percentage (one of very best ever)

14 of 15 winning seasons (one of best )

3-1 in BCS Bowls (one of best)

9-4 in Bowls games or about 70%. (one of the best ever)
Texas bowl record was 18-18-2 before Brown

2 BCS Title games

1 BCS Title

I'm not saying his time may not be up in the near future, but this guy deserves your respect.

kind of a low ranked class for Texas it seems. Usually they are around top 5 right or at least top 10.

so, since we only signed 15 players, does that mean we can have 35 signees next year like A&M does?

I agree Burm. We lost some kids that I think we would have signed in other years. It's to be expected with all the coaching turnover etc. Lots of other coaches are telling recruits that Brown will be gone soon and that story is gaining traction. If it's true or not is beside the point. The media runs stories every other day on it and the fan base is not helping by calling for the head of Brown so it all perpetrates the story.

The Class is not nearly what Texas normally sees but a lot of it is the class size. If you look at the average of those who signed, they are ranked at an average of 3.67, I believe, which is good for 9th in the country overall. Now, even that is low for Texas but, it's much better then 24, which is what the class is currently ranked I believe.

And then some.

Well, enjoy it now. I suspect that Texas will rebound next year. They already have a very good class going in 2014. Now, we said the same thing about 2013 and we saw a lot of funny things happen there but I seriously doubt that a repeat performance like what we saw this season will happen again.

I guess we'll see.

BTW, it's a lot easier for me to like "That Other OSU" school now that you have Meyer. I really, really like that guy.

I love Meyer.

What a fantastic job he has done getting Ohio St back and then some after the mess when Tressel left.

The guy is not only a great coach but a fantastic recruiter.

But you need numbers as well because some of them will bust and you will have attrition. The USC bunch are saying the same thing you are and ignoring reality of small numbers.

No question, I completely agree but the problem is that Texas can't sign many more then what they have already signed. They could never have signed a class of 20+ because of the numbers they already have. It's an NCAA thing. Texas could only ever sign so many this year. It's not a matter of ignoring anything. It's a matter of not violating NCAA rules. Next year, it will be different.

I think we could have taken 20 this year, I'm pretty sure we had room for two more early enrollees(SP?) naashaun hughs was given a scholarship but they had planned to greyshirt him and they were gonna take billings or benenoch whichever committed first, a'shawn, and rsj.

I thought I read where our ceiling was 18 and with that, we would need to free up one ship we had not intended to. I don't know if that is the real number or not but I do know that we were never looking to try and sign that many players in this years class because the coaching staff felt like the talent coming out in 2014 and 2015 were superior. I know that there will be those who say that's spin and for all I know it might be but I tend to believe that there is probably more truth to it then spin only because we didn't really target a lot of players from the very beginning. Not like in years past. If the talent is there and you can sign the players, then you do that because that's how it works. If it's not what you want, then you short ship and go after the next year and so on.

it is a little spin, the in state talent is better next year but bottom line is we offered 5 d-linemen and none accepted along with 4 TE's which only a 3* accepted and had a 5* WR de-commit so we had more room somewhere

Don't dispute any of that, as I said earlier. However, it's true that we were never going to sign 20 or more in this class. I don't think that this part of it is spin. That's really all I'm saying.
