Not happy at all with this class. The lack of DTs and DEs is alarming. Especially when 2014 is weak in that area. Also hate that we slept on Robbie Rhodes for so long and never really recruited Mitchell out of Plano. I'll also always wonder what went wrong with RSJ. That dude is the best player in the state.

Looking at that list, there's a good chance 7 or 8 of those guys in the top 10 end up in the SEC.

I'll also always wonder what went wrong with RSJ. That dude is the best player in the state.

I think what happened was he looked at Ash & McCoy and realized how bad they are. And there's not much in the QB pipeline for UT if Swoopes is on deck next.

If you're RSJ and you look at that and then see you have an opportunity to catch passes from Johnny Football (and then Matt Davis or Kenny Hill or Kohl Stewart), setting you up nicely for the NFL, why would you go to Texas?

Johnny F could have had an effect. But RSJ always wanted to go to Texas. I read a report somewhere that during one of our summer camps last year he didn't like something he heard from our coaches. I think either one of two things happened. Either Texas expressed interest at him moving to the defensive side of the ball and he got a little annoyed b/c he's always said he wants to play offense. Or he expressed interest in taking other visits but Mack said no like he always does with his commitments.

I think Oregon happened to RSJ. RSJ was on board to come to Texas until the talk of Oregon came up and that whole planned visit. I think that something happened on that trip and RSJ's plans changed. I think he intended to go to Oregon but the NCAA thing broke and talk of Oregon getting investigated started up. I think that probably spoked RSJ but he had already pretty much burned his bridges with Texas and he ended up signing with TAMU, which is really not a bad option considering their situation.

Bobby Burton had an interesting article the other day. Among other things, he said that he thought LHN was hurting Texas recruiting. Said that Texas is not getting the exposure they used to now that games are on LHN. Becauase LHN is not being carried by major cable distributors, it really hurts recruiting outside of Texas but also in Texas. If you can't get LHN or afford LHN, then your not being seen enough.

Now, I don't know if I believe that or not. I mean, I can see the angle and it's true that you can't get LHN unless your in Texas but we are really only talking 3 or 4 games I think. I don't know but I thought it was interesting.

Bobby Burton has had nothing good to say about LHN since it came out with good reason. Nobody can see it. He wrote an article about it a week after it debut.

there is a good chance 7 or 8 out that top ten wont be top 50 but next year.

but 7 or 8 of whatever ends up being the top 10 will still probably reside in the SEC.

The SEC is like one long NFL try out.

Mack hates the LHN. Said it takes focus away from football because of access he must grant tv crews. Said they have to take things off the table in practices.

Has really hurt UT apparently.

I read that same article. Sounds to me as if the vision of LHN probably needs to be refined a bit.

Texas is going to get there share of top recruits again in 2014. What happened in 2013, IMO, will not be a trend.
