Now if Dez Bryant is sitting there at 27 and Earl Thomas is available as well... The question now becomes whom would Dallas draft?????

I'm torn honestly because if you're going on pure best talent available then it's Dez Bryant but if you drafting purely on a NEED basis then of course it's Earl Thomas.... It would be a nice position for the Cowboys to be in.

I suppose now that he's in your signature, you feel compelled to defend him no matter what.

Curiously, Jared Gaither and OJ Atogwe are no longer there. What happened?

I wish Thomas could slip to 59, no chance in Hades of that happening. However, if we could get Iupati in the 1st and Thomas in the 2nd.....I would be happier than a blind lesbian in a tuna factory.

If we draft Earl Thomas at #27 and any OL of note whatsoever is on the board, I'll be upset.

I wont.

Guy who helps force turnovers on turnover starved team >>>> backup OL

Eric Berry is the only Safety I consider a true 1st round prospect. I am not a fan of drafting Safeties in the 1st round because I think the position is evolving into more coverage skills similar to a Nickel CB than a run support role. I am not saying Thomas isn't talented. I just wouldn't take him in the 1st round if I could trade down and add picks instead.

I have no problem with this philosophy even if I don't agree. Maybe I should say I mostly agree but I think Thomas is still a first rounder with an average draft position of 18+. That doesn't make the majority correct though.

I don't think you can have a true CB at safety. I do think there has to be some run support above the average CB's tackling ability. I think Thomas is a CB in a safeties body. But in general I would draft a CB instead of a safety. It's just we don't 'have' to have another CB of starting quality on this particular team at this particular time. Not saying you can't use another CB. Right now though safety is near a need position on this team. Not a must but a need.

Extremely disturbing, yet oh so exciting . . .

Jerry would probably trade down for more picks. :D

I would love to have Thomas he has shown himself as a playmaker and a difference maker and to me I don't care what position you play if you are an individual who is consistently making plays and helping change the outcome of games then I want you here. Dallas does need help at Safety and Thomas is one of the best in this draft.

It is a sound strategy. Especially if you still end up with one of the guys and you don't care which one you get.

Just say no, to safeties in the first round.

Just say no, to playoff victories in late January.

Plenty of top quality safeties have been drafted in the 1st round. Let's just draft the best player available that also improves our team. Our defense is set with the exception of a playmaking safety. If there's a kid available in the 1st round that improves that weakness, we'd be fools not to draft him.

Yeah, no problem at all going forward with those safeties we have that force so many turnovers now. I mean damn, two in two yrs is definitely good stuff.

Dont know how you can roll your eyes, who's a rookie beating out this year with absolutely 100% certainty?

I have no problem taking an OL at 27, but if comes down to a choice between a player like Thomas or a few of the OL who might be available there, Thomas is the pick for me. Even if he didnt start he'd almost assuredly have a significant role in the nickel/dime defense.

Just  at you trying to win an argument by claiming our first round OL will be some bench warmer.

Good chance we will need him at some point.

Honestly, watching Thomas his entire career in my backyard I just never got a "greatness" vibe off of him and I never knew why he was considered a 1st rounder. I felt the same way about Michael Huff.

you were probably watching Blake Gideon and thought he was Thomas. Or perhaps Ishie Oduegwu?
