so any chance tech jumps bama to number one? i think they have a great argument, they beat UT who was number one and Okie state who was number 9. the quality wins bama has so far are georgia who barely beat kentucky today and lsu who has probably the worst quarterback in college football, man that guy is terrible!!

Please don't apply logic to college football.

Tech is not a traditional power like Alabama and in college football that is 99% of how you are perceived.

BTW.....I would take Gresham over Pettigrew, though you really can't go wrong with either. Don't forget about Chase Coffman either

pettigrew is more solid. he's a better blocker, maybe not as elite of a receiver as gresham, but pettigrew is always money.

what? not necessarily.

Tech, OU, and Texas would all have 1 conference loss

you'd have to go through the tiebreakers. one of the tiebreakers is BCS standing. no one can predict that

not really, UT would still have to lose another game, dont forget about the tie breakers, plus you guys still have to play Okie state, thats gonna be no gimmie, specially in stillwater

all hell is gonna break lose if that happens, but it wil a lot more clear as long as okie state wins, unless they go and beat OU and so does tech, then were back at square one with the three team tiebreakers

Well I hear not necesarily and not really. The point is if OU beats Texas Tech, I don't see how Texas is rated higher than OU. If OU wins, then they will have beaten the team that has recently beaten the Longhorns. Your W over OU will not be as big as a W over Texas Tech this late in the season.

Head to head... it's pure logic...

Texas beat OU at a neutral site... Texas lost to TT at Lubbock... they weigh those home games in...

If OU were to lose to TT at Norman, they will drop more than if it was at Lubbock...

From what they said tonight, the BCS rankings play a major factor should that situation occur...

There is absolutely no logic to ranking OU over Texas this year should they both finish with one loss... but then again... this is the BCS and the crooked bowl system... anything is possible...

i agree with you on the losses coming on the road as opposed to a neutral site. plus dont forget that the only team out of the three that will have played missouri, the best team in the north, is texas, and they beat them pretty good, i dont think the computers on the bcs rankings will forget about that win, unlike the humans who just seem to vote on last week rather than the complete body of work. i do agree with rowdy though, i think OU will be ranked ahead of UT if they beat TT in the human polls, but hopefully the computers will take the road loss and extra good win into account

From foxsports-not that they are the authority of football but I agree with their opinion on this.....

"But while Florida (No. 4) and Oklahoma (No. 5) are both looking up at the Longhorns in the standings, both may have a better shot to impress both the voters and the computers and play their way into the title game.

For example, if Florida were to hand Alabama its first loss of the season in the SEC championship game, it's not difficult to envision the Gators leapfrogging both the Crimson Tide and the Longhorns.

Likewise, if the Sooners are able to do what the Longhorns could not -- i.e., beat Texas Tech -- the stage would be set for a three-way tie atop the Big 12 South. In that case, the tie would be broken by the BCS standings themselves. Under that scenario, it's also very possible Oklahoma could use a win over Texas Tech to pass both their Big 12 rivals and earn a spot in the Big 12 championship game."
