they didn't prepare for that QB, the game plan was to get after the passer hard and stop the run, we got burned a few times because we were over aggressive with the blitz and not prepared for a mobile QB. it will look different in the 2nd half just watchkmp77;3532088 said:

Getting too carried away there. Just punt it and try to pin them. Rice can't drive 90+ yards on Texas

The Horns played decent....but made a lot of mistakes. They dropped 2 potential pick 6s. They turned it over on downs inside the 5. They missed a FG. They had a few stupid penalties. They gave up a fluke TD before the half (although the guy was down at the half yardline). They gave up the last TD after Williams muffed a punt that he should have let go. The defense was abused by the backside QB rush.
Even with all of this, they won by 17 with a new offense and a new QB. BTW, it was nice of the Conference USA refs to allow Rice to commit PI at least 3 times in the red zone and not throw the flag. I guess the defender is now allowed to pull down the receiver's arm so he can't catch the ball.
It was good to see DB Phillip Gaines play again. I forgot he went to Rice. He was solid HS player at Judson.

Texas is a team that is going to grow as the season goes along.
This is a new team for them, new system, and lots of talent.
I really like this team and don't think anyone will want to play them come November.
Right now though they can be beat.
Personally I don't feel like College football starts this year until Alabama loses.
That team has such a force of a running game that they can bull any team they play against and there is nothing anyone can do about it.
