Longhorns did get off to a slow start in this game but once they figure out this new Rice offense they did not seem to have much trouble to shutting Rice down. I love the Horns but not sure if they are NC material this season just have to wait and see how this Horns team improves over the course of the season. I was happy to see good play from 2 former Cowboy kids in Tre Newton and Jeffcoat produce as they did

I think you are correct. They are going to have some growing pains this year. I think they have a shot at the Big 12 title but I don't think they have enough to win a title this year. To many younger players. Of course, they could grow up fast but typically, more experienced teams win in those kinds of situations.

Should be damn good next year thou.

I agree. I'm excited about this group and while I think it may be hard to get a shot at the national title I do think BCS bowl can be achieved.

Texas has a very high ceiling. Very talented team.

If they don't lose early they'll be as good as anyone late.

But my theory is College football doesn't start until Bama loses. They can run over anyone.

True but they are going through a change. Especially on offense where with Young and Colt they ran the spread offense now it is more under center and running the ball. Heck Gilbert had only 21 passes in the game under the system we ran before 21 passes was the normal for a half game

I don't think so Catch. They have issues on both sides of the ball IMO. They are not nearly as strong as they were a year ago defensively, which means that they can't shut down offenses and control the ball with the run. Also, Ingram is out for at least a couple weeks, which will not help. They have Richardson and he's very talented but they don't have that one two combination and I am still not convinced they have a QB who can get it done for them. Both lines lost key players to Graduation so they will likely not be as dominant on either side of the ball. I just think they are going to have a real tough time winning the SEC, much less another title but I do understand what you are saying. Champions have to fall before anybody can replace them.

I guess we'll see.

Bama will get a good test this weekend with Penn St coming to town. Bama no doubt will be favored but Penn St I think will give them a run for their money
