For my part, I've said previously that $8M per would be my top-end. With a huge chunk of that guaranteed. I'd said I wouldn't trade anything for him, but I've softened on that a bit thinking that we'd otherwise be spending at least a third to bring in a lesser player for four seasons.

There's no magic formula, but it seems clear to me that a healthy Adrian Peterson behind this offensive line would make this the best offense in the NFL. If you agree, giving him essentially the same contract that Murray earned in Philadelphia is a no-brainer.

In terms of giving up draft choices, that's a more difficult question. In losing Murray, you essentially already gave up a draft choice - because the team will need to draft a running back. If they draft one in the first round, then they lost a first round pick for Murray. If instead the team could sign the best running back in football and give up a third round pick, using the first rounder on a disruptive DT, that also seems like a no-brainer to me.

The real debate here is whether you think Adrian Peterson is still the best running back in the league. Is he better than Murray? I say that he is - though three years older, he has never rushed for less than 4.4 yards per carry and has averaged 100 yards per game. Wrap your head around that. He has only missed 7 games due to injury in 7 NFL seasons. And he has accomplished that behind a horrible offensive line.

Murray, while we all appreciate what he did for the team last year, has only had one season with more than 1200 yards.

An $8mil per year, three year contract to me is a no-brainer. I'd also give up a 3rd. Giving up a 2nd and a 3rd is more dicey.

Count me in. AP and a defensive influenced draft would put this team over the top for Lombardi #6

I'd rather the Cowboys draft a young back

If he has 2 amazing years left in him which I believe he does then I'd go for Peterson.

I just feel like he is our best chance at getting us to a SuperBowl.

If it was any other RB in NFL history I'd pass but not on this guy.
