- Word circulating in downtown Indianapolis this evening is Jarvis Jones/OLB/Georgia could make a DaQuan Bowers type drop in the draft due to his medical issues. Many who have spoken with Jones tell us he seems resigned to the fact he’s likely to drop.
- Hearing the New York Jets understand they won’t be able to afford to resign LaRon Landry. One less expensive option they will consider is Glover Quin, if the Houston Texans don’t resign him. The word is the Texans will do all they can to resign Quin.
- Speaking of the Jets, I’ve been told by several sources that a number of veteran players were miffed by the fact many of the teams rookies were not seeing more playing time towards the end of the 2012 season. One player they point to was seventh round pick Jordan White, whom they said was ready to see extensive action, especially considering the teams woes at the receiver position, yet barely saw the field.
- To expand on a post from yesterday, we’ve been hearing since October that Sam Montgomery/DE/LSU was not receiving rave reviews from his college coaches. More to the point I was told the LSU coaches have been slamming him. Montgomery’s attitude and personality did not sat well with a number of his former teammates or coaches.
- It should come as no surprise to anyone but the Arizona Cardinals have told people the plan is to come away with a starting offensive tackle from the first two rounds of April’s draft.
- Keep this in the back of your mind; Arthur Brown/LB/Kansas State has a shoulder “issue” that bears watching. It specifically kept him from participating in the Senior Bowl.
- We tweeted yesterday the Florida pro-day is being moved back to March 20th from the 12th. I’m told it was a direct result of free agency beginning the same day as well as the school offering additional time to allow a few injured players to properly prepare.
- More on the JaMarcus Russell comeback. At the start of his comeback Russell tipped the scales at a robust 314-pounds but expects to be down around 265-pounds by his pro-day, presently scheduled for April 10th as was reported yesterday.
