I saw on the news that they got everyone out of the cave just in time ... several hours later a pump failed that was keeping the flood waters at bay and the cave quickly filled with water...

When they make the Hollywood movie about this starring The Rock as a Thai Diver, they're going to have that pump fail during the rescue to make the ending more action packed.

There will also be a long dormant cave monster awakened in the final act that The Rock has to subdue using the machine guns he brought with him to rescue "The 13".
