People know we have a good offense and a mediocre defense but we don't get much credit for special teams. Special teams was more important back in the 90's and Jimmy always tried to win that aspect of the game.

While not as important in today's NFL, it still plays a big role in our success in 2016. Something I think Garrett took from Jimmy.

Minnesota has won several games this year on special teams alone. We won the special teams battle and it played a major role in why we were able to escape with a win.

When I read your post I agree..

Our special teams punt and KO coverages have also stepped up.

I find myself rooting to the TV for Jones to nail it in the corner or for Bailey to stroke it from 55yds.

Its fun to watch it.

As much as we have improved on offense and defense..

all the special teams have been contributing impressively.

Now..if we could only get Lucky to return a couple..

Special teams was absolutely the difference in the game.

The Cowboys were probably +70 yards on punting differential and +1 ST turnovers. We also kept an elite Cordarrelle Patterson from hurting us.

Both kickers were great!

Remember the opening for the 1992 NFC Championship Game (Dal vs SF)?

There were several Cowboy and 49er fans playing pool. They were comparing each position of the teams. When the first mention of kickers came up, the hostess interrupted and said, "If you're going to talk kickers, you're out of here."

That is what came to mind reading this thread.

"If you're going to talk kickers, you're out of here."

He has steadily improved since we got here. I remember the rueing going on when we let McBriar go. Now Jones is putting our defense is great position and giving us at least the option of fake punts/field goals that we never had when McBriar was punting/holding.

Was thinking about how much we liked McBriar.... Jones has more than adequately replaced him..

Been awhile since we won a game because of our special teams

A great feeling... Maybe they will start to get some credit by announcer like Philly does.... They may not get the scores, but they sure add a lot to our scoring opportunities

LOL,sorry but every time Chris Jones is mentioned I gotta laugh at his vindictive actions he employed on demarco Murray in the game against the eagles last year,,,, absolutely hilarious.
