Personally, it was a confirmation for me. I always thought the front office would due their due diligence in evaluating and forecasting Romo's durability. If they thought Romo wasn't capable of enduring the pounding, they would pull the trigger in the first round on quarterback, whether that was Manziel, Bortles, Bridgewater, etc. If they were satisfied with Romo's recovery, we would look outside the quarterback position until approximately the fourth round or later.
I have zero proof, but I believe these are the circumstances which helped define the draft board. The Martin pick lifted a huge weight of uncertainty from my shoulders. If the pick had been safety, I would have grumbled some, but the nearest BPA's below Martin included safety. That would have been a solid pick as well. I can only hope that wide receivers and linebackers will eat up four or five of the next fifteen picks. That should push a handful of BPA defensive linemen right down to #47 or within striking distance of a reasonably practical trade up or down. This is what I have my fingers crossed for.
