There is no guarantee that Cleveland will suck next year.

In today's NFL, anything is possible.

Also there is no guarantee that Jerry will do anything worth a crap with that pick. I fear, if McFadden is available that Jerry will pass on him and draft another Marcus Spears type instead, ya know Jerry never has enough 1st round defensive players and what were they ranked on defense last year.

I don't know that Spears is a bust yet, but with his whining lately about it being Bill's fault that he is not productive, is treading toward bust territory, along with his lack of production.

thanks to your #1 draft pick next year we will be able to choose either :

darren mcfadden

steve slaton

limas sweed

or...........we can get another real keen tweener.:banghead:

I love my Longhorns but I haven't seen anything out of Sweed's play that suggests he's a 1st round pick next year. We'll see how he does this year, though, great I hope.

Yep and I think we coulda used him.

I wouldn't have minded him but I am a firm believer we had 1 more year until we use a day 1 pick on a WR.

You think the Cows had 1 more year before they should or would take a WR. I like what Jarrett brings to the table, if he's available take him now. IMO they should've taken Quinn also as insurance, I don't care if Tony couldn't handle it, if he couldn't then Tony shouldn't be the guy.

But Quinn to Jarrett would've been sweet for the future, I don't remember what pick Jarrett went but I think Dallas could've done some dealing to get up to get him in the 2nd.

Quinn will need a WR like Jarret... long arms in order to catch poorly throw balls :D

He wont have a bad target in Cleveland though ;)

Quinn will be a fine QB, Cleveland may be in pretty good shape in a couple years, just hope not next year.:D ;)

JJ said himself we had another year before we needed to address the WR position if it's not fixed internally first.

Jerrett........you can get slow WR's like that every year in the draft. I know he made big plays at USC. But this is the NFL where the CB's and S's are bigger and faster. We made the right move in getting Spencer. The pass rush must be fixed once and for all.

I'm not so sure that the lack of pressure is due to the players but maybe the philosophy and I thought by getting Big Wade that he would solve that, at least that's what I hear. And we've spent first round pick after first round pick year after year and it never gets fixed, I don't think one more guy is gonna fix it this year without that philosopical change, and hopefully that is what really fixes it. I'm not totally against helping the D but we need some scary offensive weapons, soon and I would've liked to get that this year.

I think also if the WR's run precise routes then not having superspeed won't be a huge factor. Jarrett's size and ability to sheild away DB's is what I really coveted, couple that with those great hands of his. Speed don't mean nothin' if the dude can't catch. See T.O. and his how many dozed drops.:)

Limas Sweed is not Jarret. While he is not a burner, he is not a slow possession reciever either. I've seen a couple of his highlight films and he looks fairly quick.

For some reason I expect for Dallas to do very well this season. If they make it deep into the playoffs, I don't think Sweed will be there.

Exactly! And.... there is no reason to thank them either for the #1 next year... if Quinn does well in the NFL and Romo falters... we will hear it.... from media, from fans... from everyone.

It will be years before we know that the draft deal we made was a good one.

thanks again cleveland!!

i hope you're right.

...but that's a whole lot of unhatched chickens right there...

The reason it was such a great move is that next year's draft will be one of the best & deepest in years. We will be able to get a #1 starting WR AND another great player, whether on defense or offense. My guess is a WR and a massive Dlineman who can play NT. Ferguson won't last forever, and the NT is the keystone of the 3-4 defense.

Don't be so quick to claim how good next years draft will be. We will not have any real indications untill late next year.
I really do not see Cleveland winning more then 5-6 games next season. their D is pretty sad- they were lucky last year in rarely running up against top offences, so they looked better then they were.

Cleveland is my new Deadskin/Beagles this year. I'm rooting for Cleveland to go 0-16
