The absurd calls for half the team to be cut and fired after every game is amazing.
Did I agree with the 4th and 1 pass? Not using that long of a route.
Did I agree with the fake punt? No but it was open if Wilson does his job and throws it.
In his defense I think McCarthy knew the defense was on its last legs as evidenced by the run D the last 10 mins of the game and was trying to steal momentum.
Washington was the better team once the 2 tackles went out and then the CBs playing were guys no ones heard of. Burton and Robinson started one of the series. Then when Robinson was down it was just find 11 guys to line up.
The games are much more entertaining this year. You can’t say you know what plays coming anymore which is what everyone complained about last year. How many on here said “if we’re going to lose at least go down swinging and trying something new?”
If McCarthy had even a reasonably healthy team I think these aggressive calls will work out.
Most of us wanted the team to lose anyway because seeing no logical way they make a run in the playoffs, it’s best to get the best draft pick.
Just let the process work out for at least another year. If they’re 8-8 or worse again next year then yes McCarthy is probably gone. It doesn’t seem like he’s a good fit with the high spotlight all the time, but he deserves a chance to go through a normal year with players knowing the schemes.
If you were a new stock broker and in 7 of your first 10 months you report a loss because the industry you specialize in is down across the board, should you be fired or given a chance to figure out how to work within the system to prevent these things from happening in the future?
For all of our jobs, we want to be given time to get the kinks out especially when things happen beyond our control. Why not allow it for football teams also?
