Couldn't have done this two weeks ago.

Four days before the Senior bowl where coaches evaluate talent, which we have none now.

You may have built up this team pretty well but your timing on leaving could very well leave a mark.

Thanx, Team mate.
Hooray for me and the hell with you ,right Bill???

I know Mod's, you probably can incorporate this thread into another , but I just wanted to vent.

Yep, I feel your pain.

...and had he announced earlier, Zimmer may have been the new HC.

No, thanks.

If you think JJ would have done that, then we're in more trouble now than ever.

Who has been hired that you would have wanted?

I wouldn't have minded Whisenhunt, that assuming Jim Mora Sr. turned the job down, obviously.

Alot of coaches dont go to Senior Bowl.

The scouts do the evaluating and tape each practice etc

Good place to try and entice some decent Coordinators ,don't ya think??

I'm still not sure why he was such a hot commodity. His offenses haven't been spectacular and if people were frustrated with Parcell's conservative offense in 05....well...

So now we use it to find a head coach

and still have time to find coordinators

and the combine

If he would have done it earlier we could have had SEAN PAYTON as our head coach
Well, I agree with this. I've been saying all season that he should have stepped down in '05 and allowed Payton to replace him. Not because I wanted Bill to step down, but because it was inevitable and Payton is as good a replacement as any other.

They were good enough to win a Super Bowl with a questionable young QB, although thats another debate. Or were you talking about Mora Sr? LOL

Whisenhut is ok, but you have to ask why the Steelers let him go? No one besides Saban is of any value. Cameron? Ok. Tomlin? No thanks. No one is really going to blow anyones mind, so it's not a big deal. Ryan, Phillips, or Turner seem to be on the docket, so I guess I'll deal with one of them. If JJ can get the other JJ to come back, that would be something.

Of course, that wasn't because of their offense. The Bears offense could be good enough to win a SB this season, but I wouldn't want Rex Grossman as my quarterback.

well, the Steelers did go outside the organization and hired Cowher after Noll was done. It may be their MO.

Whisenhunt may not have wanted the job. Cowher is a tough act to follow and maybe he liked his chances in Zona better.
