I'm sitting here on the phone with my good friend in San Diego...She's at the Chargers stadium right now..

She lost her house..she didn't get anything she couldn't even save her pets..her mom is out of town and she can't get ahold of her brother..

She's only 19 for christ sakes..I'm too far away and all I can do is sit here and feel sick and talk to her...I knew this morning she was in jeopardy but you'd never think it'd happen to someone you know.

If you know people in the San Diego area or specifically El Cajon (where she's at) Call them now...Make sure they're okay!!

Ugh I feel so sick..

I really hope her pets got out. I hope they at least are able to get out of the house and have a chance.

My aunt and cousins are gonna lose their house. They're already getting ready to move to El Paso to my G'mas house (RIP).

They've lived in that house (in CA) for over 30 years.

You'd think CA would have a MUCH better way to deal with all the fires being that the freakin' ocean is right next to them.

I hope they were able to save some possessions. This situation is almost unreal..

"You can see the fires surrounding El Cajon..it's like hell is opening up"

I can't imagine what they're all going through.

Just keep in contact- keep talking to her= let her know she is not alone, that someone is thinking of her and keep it up.

What you see in california is the result of too much development, unplanned, and the unwillingness to take steps like culling of forests, large firebreaks, etc. There have ALWAYS been fires in California- the weather is dry - the Santa Anna winds- but its a lot worse NOW because of development.

They're going in to get pets and livestock.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/10/23/evac.animals/index.html

Here are some numbers that you or your friend could try to call to get someone out to her house for the pets if there's still time.

The County of San Diego Department of Animal Services provides animal control services for the unincorporated areas of San Diego County and the cities of Carlsbad, Del Mar, Encinitas, San Diego, Santee, and Solana Beach.

(619) 767-2675 (metro)
(760) 438-2312 (North County coastal)
(760) 746-7307 (North County inland)

One of my good friends is volunteering at Qualcom stadium. She tells me things are truly as dire as they seem. If I had the money to get there right now, I'd do so.

They are still looking for volunteers...if you're in the area or have the means to get to the area.

Yea, there's that. Then again, some scumbag arsonists probably contributed JUST a tad, huh?

I don't know what caused the Witch Creek fire or Harris fire, which are the ones forcing evacuations in SD... But the Malibu Canyon Fire was caused by power lines being downed by the wind.

It's not always arsonists.

It's really hard to believe that a fire can become a natural disaster and cause the same type of damage and impact as a hurricane or an earthquake. It's very surreal to me. I live in Phoenix and we always think of California particularly San Diego as paradise because it's right by the water and their temperate climate. I love Phoenix weather and ambience as well but we really miss water. It's just crazy to think that they are enduring something like this. My prayers are with them and we have opened our homes and made ourselves available to people in the San Diego/LA area
