I watched it after her career began but when I watched it it was so easy to see what agents/directors/producers saw in her and why she became who she is. That performance still stands out to me and I rank it in the top 10 I've ever seen, and she was only a kid. I still don't think I've seen her do better.

Gary Oldman was awesome in it too!
What about her role in Black Swan???

I keep wanting to think of one for Harrison Ford, but there are so many iconic roles for him that kind of just take on a persona for themselves. When you watch him as Han Solo, you don't think that he's also Indiana Jones, and vice versa. A testament to how good he is.
You're right, but I would throw his one-time President Marshall from Air Force One in the list of mentionable iconic roles. And his Regarding Henry role was very underrated in terms of iconic in my opinion.

And before someone punches me in the gut, no. I have not forgotten about Blade Runner. :p:

I didn't like the movie, I fell asleep during it. I'm sure it's a good movie it's just not my cup of tea.

I guess options vary. Me? I thought it was scary good. The movie had me solidly hooked well-before her transformation into the Black Swan. Trying to decipher what she saw as reality or hallucination drove the movie from start to finish. For me at least. :)

I might have to give it another chance. I think the experience was ruined for me though because I was told the outcome of the movie long before I actually ruined it.

I can see that. There are several versions of the Swan Lake ballet and I believe all end in various forms of tragedy.

My recommendation to anyone wishing to give Black Swan a chance is to approach it like someone who hasn't seen Titanic. Granted, Black Swan not on the grand scale as James Cameron's film. Still, everyone pretty much knows how it was going to end too. Maybe not the part with Dicaprio (sp?) sinking as well, but pretty much everything else. :p:

Johnny Depp - Captain Jack Sparrow

He's done so many good characters but I can't see him now without thinking about that role.

Somebody do Walter Brennan and John Wayne. I can't decide.
Tough call on both... how 'bout:

Walter Brennan - Stumpy in Rio Bravo

John Wayne - Marshal Reuben J. "Rooster" Cogburn in True Grit (my favorite); in Rooster Cogburn w/ K. Hepburn

And I'd add...

Clint Eastwood - Josey Wales in The Outlaw Josey Wales... followed by the Man with No Name lone gunslinger character he played in Sergio Leone's Spaghetti Western Classics, especially the first in the series ... A Fistful of Dollars ... which established the character.

See, I knew nothing about the story and its past. I'm going to sound ignorant but I didn't even know it was a popular story that was remade. That changes things. I was bummed because I thought the whole thing was blown for me. Now, I'll definitely give it another chance.
