Romo Thought/Prediction
I posted this in another thread and thought it deserved it's own:

I think people are making to much of the fact that Romo hasn't thrown a regular season pass. I don't see this as a legit reason he can't take over.

He's been learning, watching and performing (all be it in a controlled environment) for four years.
I can assure you we will see very quickly what he's made of. What I mean is that he will be very close to what he'll be long term almost immediately. Look at some other examples of successful guys who kind of came out of nowhere

Warner spent a few years in arena and NFL Europe and I believe one full year on St Louis' bench. He was a seasoned guy who knew the system. He wasn't a rookie. He was exceptional from the first drive. He was no better in week 4 week 8 or week 16. He had "it".

Delhome spent three years with very little to no actual playing experience. He was as good in his first start for Carolina as he is today. Good comparable to Romo. He has "it"

Brady took over for Bledsoe in week 3 or 4 in his second year. He did get better over his first season. There was upward curve for him, but he was only a second year player and still very good from day one. Obviously he has "IT" sqaured.

I think Romo the next guy. He's not a rookie! Including him in this group is not going to sound so silly fairly soon. I believe he has "it". I love the way the ball comes off his hand. He's smooth, accurate, calm, confident. To me he seemed to make alot of quick and good reads, pre-snap and post-snap. Just seemed like he knew where he wanted to throw it quickly and always seemed to be right. Even though he seemed to be so technically precise, he wasn't mechanical he showed the ability to improvise.
I felt like I was watching something special. I see some Montana in his game.

Let me just say this. I was a Henson guy. Believed in him, wanted him to do well. I'm talking to a freind in the third quarter of our second preseaon game. You guys should remember this game, we all wanted Bledsoe to do well to kill any QB debate. Bledsoe was exceptional that first half. Romo comes in the 3rd Quarter and still upstages him! This friend is complaining because Henson wasn't getting in. Coming into that game I wanted to see Henson, but by that time I didn't want Romo to come out! I was converted and not the least bit dissapointed when they cut Henson two days latter.

I like Bledsoe, nice guy had some real nice moments for us last year. I've defended him and still see a lot of positives in his game. But I think Romo is an upgrade, it's his time.

Romo can't take over this team because...
HE'S NEVER THROWN A PASS IN AN NFL GAME!:bang2:

Now that that's been put to bed, I say we should give him the benefit of the doubt until.....HE THROWS HIS FIRST INCOMPLETION!:laugh2: or perhaps until he starts a drive that doesn't end in a TD!:laugh2:

All kidding aside, I'm more on the Romowagon after todays game. And it has little to do with his very nice debut and everything to do with Bledsoe's performance.

Like most longtime Cowboy fans I to believe in franchise QBs and that most have a pedigree. I don't want to settle for anything less. Like a QB with an average to below average arm. Short-comings of this type may not allow him to excell at the highest level. THIS IS WHAT WE ALL WANT. IT'S ALL WE'RE CONCERNED WITH. SUBERBOWL OR BUST!

I don't believe Romo has a weak arm. I do believe that all of his positives far outweigh what may be just an average arm.

But here's the real reason I think ROMO should start.

Bledsoe's done, cooked, over, finished. Five games is all I need. He has displayed very little confidence. His arm looks weak! He's making far to many bad decisions and even more poor throws. He'snot making the plays. HE IS NOT THE SAME PLAYER HE WAS EVEN LAST YEAR. He's not good enough to accomplish our goals. He is no longer good enough for us.
Nothing personal, I like him, he's a good guy. So are alot of guys here, that doesn't mean I want any of you starting next week.

I have a feeling that Parcells and the rest of the staff see this as well.

I'm going to go out on a ledge and predict that ROMO STARTS NEXT WEEK.

These threads calling out the 'Romo Haters' and saying I told you so are every bit as annoying as the ones putting Romo down and saying benching Bledsoe was a woeful mistake.

Grow up fellas.

Come to think of it, shouldn't our season be over right now since Romo is our new starting QB. I must be crazy wasting my time on this board with so much time to the April draft!

I don't think he's calling out any haters. Just giving himself a little ego boost. A wanting for validation is in everyone's nature.

I wrote the following three weeks ago:

"I liked Henson too, but he's gone. He may turn it around in the future, but BP's track record is pretty good in terms of letting players go.

I like Romo as well. Hell, I hope Romo is the future, because I can't wait another three years for another player to develop. I see a little Staubach in him, a little Favre, and a little Montana. I want him to play against the Texans. If there is a time to make a change, this is the time to do it.

I want a future QB on this roster now, while our defense is still young, and our QB is as well."

But, I liked Henson too. So, what do I know?

I don't know if I'm looking for an ego boost. Maybe, I mean we all have egos and we like to be right.
I'm more of the nasty type than needy. I was just looking to tweek a few noses. Some people who have argued in the past that I was crazy suggesting that Romo could take over as our starter and improve our situation day one
