I don't think it will happen, and I DON'T WANT IT TO HAPPEN (PLEASE NO!), but if Romo were to go out against Washington and throw 4 picks and we lose by 25 points will Sonnyboy be back on here tooting his horn again?

Yes I will.

And you wonder what I meant when I said the crazies were out in full force this afternoon.

Was there a breakout at the MHMR facility today?

Hold up...when u say a little Montana can u be specific? do u mean skin tone or eye color? because I recall Joe Montana in his day and I see nothing in ROMO that says he is Montana... Flutie maybe, but no Montana!!!

Nothing? if someone posted video of the 2 you would probally take that statement back!

Not even close!!! I know Madden said he looked like Joe... but Madden also says "Boom" every 5 minutes and is the NFLs version of Harry Carey!!! I think Madden is also soo old that when he compares players his memory is limited to what stood out the most... and Joe Montana will always be on the tip of his tongue no matter how old he is!

If he did a Notre Dame game he would say the same about Brady Quinn!!!

With all the crap that you and SonnyBoy have posted today, I've wasted a LOT more than 30 minutes... In case you hadn't noticed this thread started an hour ago. I guess it's too much to ask for you to keep up.

Crap? What crap might that be?
That we have two types of people posting on this board.
Those who know something about football and those who do not.
Those who knew Bledsoe was finished and need to be benched and those who didn't. Those who knew that's when our season started and those who thought that's when it ended.
Is that the kind of crap you talkin about?

I wrote this a few weeks ago:

I think Tony Romo is going to be a very good QB. I bet that after tomorrow's game against Philly (in which we'll lose and Bledsoe will get hammered in) that Drew will play well against the Texans... or pretty well. Then the following week he will stink it up on Monday night Football and after leading us into the red zone, he'll throw to the wrong side of the formation trying to get the ball to "his" guy, Terry Glenn. That'll be intercepted and that will be his last pass for the Dallas Cowboys. I think Romo comes in then and after throwing an INT on his first play, goes on to have a good day/bad day sort of outing.

Then, when he's had a week to practice as the starter, I think he lights it up against Carolina and has the biggest 4th quarter of any Dallas Cowboy QB ever. Then, after winning player of the game honors from NBC, he instantly becomes the Nation's sweetheart and goes on to become the best QB that has ever played for Dallas.

I am clearly psychic. :)

No the crap I'm talking about is more of the....

Romo is Montana.
Romo is Brady.
Romo now has his first completion, so let's put this argument to bed until he throws his first incompletion... or leads a drive that doesn't end in a TD.
Romo had a nice debut when he threw 3 INTs.
et cetera, et cetera...

In fact in your OP, you stated these comparisons "will seem less silly" in the future. Therefore, you admit that the comparisons now are just that ... SILLY.

Then you pat yourself on the back, because you believe after one game you've miraculously been proven right, and Romo is indeed Montana and/or Brady.

THAT'S the crap I'm talking about... any questions?

You forgot the part when you predicted that Romo would be crying with joy on the sidelines and Bill Parcells would be kissing everybody. ;)

I'll take the high road here and ignore the fluite comparison and answer your question.
Specifically his release. The ball seems to come off his hand very quickly. He also looks to have a much more accurate than strong arm like Montana. Like Montana he's not an imposing figure, dosent look like an athlete, but moves soo well in the pocket buying time. The play he made to Witten on 3rd and 12. Where he pulled the ball down avoided the rush moving up in the pocket and in one motion raised the ball back up and quickly released it while still moving forward. The pass was perfectly on target in a small space to a moving target. Very very impressive play that reminded me of what Montana would do routinely.

Your right but actually Romo has a quicker release than Montana.

i guarantee you a couple of the people disagreeing with us will say yeah right, but if they want me to post some of his highlights i will show them

Thanks for helping me make my point. I did feel silly typing that stuff at the time. Although I don't remember saying he was as good as Montana or Brady. I believe I broughtg up those names to compare tendencies/skills that I saw in Romo and to make this point. When your good your good. Once a player has had a year or so to learn a system he can be good right away.

All this silliness will seem less silly with each of his starts. I will make a point of reminding you of this each week and in the process perhaps take some of the joy you will feel with his success away.

So if you want to enjoy Romo's success, you might want to avoid this forum.

I think its safe to say that most Cowboy fans are pulling for Romo. Isn't that enough? In other one of the "back patting" threads I quoted the recent polls where 80% wanted him as starter even after the NYG loss and 90% thought the team would finish 8-8 or better (read as, at least as well as Drew's 3-3 record after NYG).

Must we also have a knock down dragout about whether he will be the long term starter, a pro-bowler, or future HOF'er? Or who predicted what, when, and how vehemently?

I think its clear that the author(s) are not going to get the "back patting" or agreement they were looking for.

You're not getting a "yeah right" from me. I don't particularly recall Montana's release offhand...

What you will get from me is a WHO CARES?? He may have a quicker release than Montana, I don't know. Even if it's true, does that mean he's as good as Montana?? It'd be ridiculous (or "silly") to make that claim.

The reality of the QB position is physical skills are only one part of the equation. The mental skills are a HUGE part of the makeup of the NFL QB. Much more important than the mental capabilities of other positions.

And THAT'S what you don't know about Romo. You can't quantify it with a 40 time or a heave down the field. You can only judge it by watching him practice, which I haven't done, and play, which I've seen him do for 6 quarters. You have to see the QB perform mentally in all types of situations. I haven't... Therefore I will consider all comparisons of Romo to Montana or Brady as silly until I have more evidence with which to make a judgment.

And if you were honest with yourself and us, and had an ounce of realism, you'd say the same thing. But you'd rather come on here and toot your own horn ASAP. There's a saying, and I may botch it, but it goes something like this... "Don't be in such a rush to be right when there's a chance you could be wrong."

I don't think anyone doubted that you would take any possible opportunity to needlessly pat yourself on the back and ***** for attention.

So if you want to enjoy Romo's success, you might want to avoid this forum.

I guess most Cowboys fans will be avoiding the board. Neither you, or your other misguided companion have found any evidence of plenty of people trashing you for your opinions and throwing Romo under the bus, have you?

Good work.

This is the type of attitude I CAN'T STAND!!

No one said they don't want Romo to succeed. But you feel the need to say "I said he would succeed first, the rest of you are just bandwagon jumpers following my lead."

Why do you feel the need to stroke your ego with ******** pat-yourself-on-the-back threads? I can only speak for myself, but you're not impressing anyone. It's actually sad you think you can impress us on an internet forum. I don't know you. I'm not impressed by what you say you predicted first. I'll probably just say you made the prediction prematurely and you (the blind squirrel) found your nut this time. Congratulations.

Yet you say you'll come on here every week and make these same type of insufferable posts. GREAT... can't wait...

On the other hand, thanks... I know just to put you on ignore now and not waste any more time with you.

Have to go for a while. Yes I do have a life. I'll leave you with this.

I was excited about Romo in preseason. Mostly because for me he came out of nowhere. I was still holding out hope for Henson. I was blown away watching him start that first preseason game. A game I thought Henson should have started!
I saw what I saw and made a judgement a prognostication. What P---ED ME OFF, was some of the very personal attacks I endured because of my enthusiasm. So yes, I take some pleasure in rubbing certain peoples noses in it. People who were sooooo sure they knew best. That anyone who thought this kid could actually start for us must be a moron. Not to get some kind of recognition for anything or boost my ego. Who the hell am I? What did I do? Nothing. Just looking to put some people who think they know in their place!

OK.

I asked you to find them before, we'll try again. Show us these personal attacks. If they're there, I can understand wanting to rub people's noses in it. They probably deserve it. PM's would be better though. They're not so self-important and arrogant and whorish.

Please - find and link us to these personal attacks, so that we may empathize with you.

I did a quick search here SP...

here's a quote from sonnyboy 2 weeks ago.

sonnyboy said:
I don't Know if Romo's the guy, if he's got "it". I think he does, but I don't know.
I do know that Bledsoe is done. I have no interest in winning 9-10 games and sqeaking in the playoffs with no real chance to advance.

I do want to see if Romo is the guy or if we need to go QB shopping next April.

Sounds a little different from what he's been alleging in this thread and others. Sounds like he was a little unsure... not "leading the bandwagon," and this was just two weeks ago, not the beginning of the regular season.

And I didn't want to waste too much time looking for personal attacks, but I found none in that thread... go figure.
