Listen closely.
Dak could have performed better yesterday. There were a few high and low throws that made a difference.
That said:
- His offensive line continues to woefully under-perform in the area of pass protection.
- His OC is in the booth and apparently using the appointed QB coach as an intermediary for communication with Dak. Dumbest thing ever. Linehan and Dak should always be in direct communication. Kellen Moore (aka Garrett Jr in OJT) can listen in but he should not be in the middle of the comm between the OC and the QB.
- Please watch the all 22 and observe Tyron getting abused. It's sad to see and we all know the LT is the right handed QB's security blanket.. period.
- Zeke did him zero favors on that wheel route to the liquor store and then to the end zone on a perfectly thrown TD pass via a scramble (because the pocket collapsed yet again).
- Connor Wiliams is also someone to watch. He's learning in place and gets pretty abused at times by stronger NFL level DTs.
Be sure to note the bull rush of Connor into Dak's throat yesterday.
So, with all that being said, there are much bigger issues than just blaming Dak.
I've said it before and I will say it once more. Cooper Rush looked like the second coming last preseason. Even I bought into it. Be honest with yourself and tell me how he looked this preseason... a preseason in which he got loads of playing time because Dak was bubble wrapped... Is Cooper that bad? No... Does Kellen Moore inspire Cooper Rush? No.... Does Linehan adjust his strategy to suit the skills of his play caller... A thousand times no....
I don't buy into the opinion that it's all on the signal caller when you have all of what I outlined going on around him. The oline is a literal shambles. Dak doesn't know snap to snap whether Tyron is going to get school or Connor is going to get bull rushed. His left side is the most important side for that right handed QB. Why might Dak get happy feet in the pocket? Perhaps absorb some of what I just said here...
