The 2009 NBA Finals Thread...Lakers win series (4-1)

The Magic will be at home for the next 3 games...mot on the road.
I know. I should've made my statement clearer.

The team with home court advantage in the series is the Lakers, even when they're playing on the road for those 3 games.

So they are the ones given the extra advantage in the 2-3-2 series since it will be very tough for Orlando (or any team) to win 3 straight games, even though they're all at home.

If the Lakers take even 1 of the 3 in Orlando, they'll be in great shape.

You didn't notice it? They talked about it right after it happened and showed a slow motion replay. :laugh2:
No.... I didn't notice it.

NBA supervisor of officials Bernie Fryer told ESPN.com that if Gasol's hand had shaken the basket, caused the stanchion to move or touched the rim while the ball was on the rim, the correct call would have been goaltending.

But since none of those things happened, according to Fryer, "It was a cut-and-dried no-call."

...and this is why I am no longer a fan of the NBA.

What are your thoughts on the phantom calls against Kobe in the last 3 minutes of regulation? That was a joke and you know it. Even Laker fans at the bar were saying "whatever, I'll take those points"..so garbage..

Yeah and the refs missed on the out of bounds call against the Lakers that never touch Kobe in OT. Big deal the calls went both ways. You are a typical loser crying about the refs. Home always has an advantage. That's why home court is so important. The Lakers found that out last year. The Magic should have won more reg season games. That being said, I think the Magic will win Tues. and expect a barrage of 3s. I hope I'm wrong because i would love a sweep.

It's not whining and moaning if it's true. It's just called preaching.

Truth hurts. Umm this happens to be a message board. I don't think hiding has anything to do with it. How old are you boy?

Truth? Where? That refs dictate the game more than the players? Ya i don't know about you but that is just a joke. Home court advantage is having a crowd behind you. Not having refs on your side. So with your logic, the Magic will win three straight at home. Afterall they will get all the calls and Kobe will be *****ing as usual. There's no possible way for the Fakers to win now. It's the Finals. Refs favor the home team. Ok got it. Ya that's fun to watch.

I didn't see the play as I'm not longer an NBA fan, but if there was any contact between the defender and the ball, or the defender and the rim, it is clearly a goaltending violation. Especially if the ball hits the rim.

I wish I could no longer be a fan on the NBA...it's as fake as wrestling and there's no justice if Kobe wins it all. The guy is just a straight dousch as a person. Sold out Shaq..his character is pathetic.

In the case of Howard, be basically blocked the shot by coming up through the rim to stop the stuff. It was clearly goal tending and it directly impacted the play.

In the case of Gasol, he got his hand stuck in the net on a rotation and it looked to me like he got the rim but the the ball was layed off the blass and it basically travel past the goal, having been shot off the glass and never touched the rim. I think it was probably a goal tend as well but because the ball never touched the iron, it didn't effect the shot or the outcome of the trajectory.

David Stern writing to his officials at the beginning of the 08-09 NBA season..

:write:

Memo to all the refs. The LA Lakers will be NBA champs this year. Make that happen at all costs!

The series is about to move to Orlando and I think the Magic will crawl back into the series.

I think worst than the 0-2 hole the Magic find themselves in, is their mental state. I believe Game 2, the Magic gave the Lakers their best shot and still lost the game. That can be very demoralizing.

I think if they can get 1 game under their belt, they can definately get back into the series.

As far as all the phantom calls, every superstar in the league is going to get their fair share, this is especially true if a superstar is being guarded by a subpar/servicable player.

Personally, I think Kobe Bryant is going to get more calls than Dwight Howard because 1) Kobe Bryant is a slasher and drives to the bucket more 2) Kobe Bryant will have his hands on the ball alot more and he will have it at different areas on the court than Dwight Howard.

Haley94. Slatemosphere. Take it down a notch please. Thank you.
