Next year’s QB draft class is absolutely LOADED.

Caleb Williams: comped to Patrick Mahomes by NFL scouts

Drake Maye: comped to Trevor Lawrence by NFL scouts

Quinn Ewers: comped to Kenny Pickett by one former NFL GM

Riley Leonard: comped to Daniel Jones by private QB coach

Spencer Rattler: Was projected potential first overall pick at one point

Bo Nix: comped to Derek Carr by NFL scouts

JJ McCarthy: potential first round pick according to NFL scouts

Joe Milton: comped to Anthony Richardson by NFL scouts

Michael Penix: comped to Tua Tagovailoa by NFL scouts

Honorable mention: Shedeur Sanders, Jayden Daniels, KJ Jefferson, Jordan Travis

It’s still early, but this class has CRAZY potential.

It truly is a delicious QB class. Plus, Tua's brother might be eligible too. Surely, we can get one of these.....

Problem is, since they don’t use free agency, they depend on the first rounder to plug holes and build around Dak.

I’ve haven’t felt this way as of yet, but it really may be time to take a Kenny Pickett type and go with him.

That can be had in the 20s in a good QB year.

Yes, 20s. They will continue to win home games in which they are able to get a lead. Maybe a tough one or two.

Despite the exposure, they are still at least a nine win team, probably more like 10-11.

That all adds up to not being good enough to win a championship but not bad enough to get the QB upgrade we need.

Considering the teams that have a real shot at the top pick, it may very well be available for trade. Will Jerry part with three firsts and a guy like Bland?

Probably not. Saying they are stubborn to a fault is like repeating a bad joke.

I honestly think they somehow think their undying loyalty to players will make them play better. Ha.

Well, yes, and a Pickett type would be available where we are. I would be fine with that, as long as he has time to sit for a year behind Dak. Then, let him compete with Lance.

Well, they must have some sort of a plan for Lance above and beyond being the 3rd QB for a year then walking.

They really need to develop a RPO package for him if this team is going to have a chance. Not sure how feasible that is in season, but he should get on the field somehow. Something needs to be added to this offense because it looks stale.

They will have to not declare him as a third QB in order to make that work, but if it catches a defense completely off guard in a must win situation, or gives opponents something else to prepare for, I can live with one less DB covering kicks.

I’m afraid most of this chat is moot my good friend, as Jerry is as stubborn as they come. Philly, SF, Mia, KC some of the top teams in the league right now, are/were out there wheeling and dealing multiple first rounders and top players to build the roster with the players they need to run their scheme.

Think our front office is able to do that? No shot. The game isn’t only played on the field, it’s played off it by the front office and coaching staff during the off-season, and we repeatedly get our butts handed to us in that department…but this is all Jerry is going to allow since he has to be the star of the show. Could never have a Shanahan here taking credit.

That’s why his “I’ll do anything to win” line is a repeated smack in the head.

I will say, I think McCarthy is still a very good coach. I think Lance or QB X with McCarthy teaching them would be good for us. As long as Micah Parsons is onboard with whoever we pick, I'm all for it.

Kenny Picket sucks. They're going nowhere with him, and he wouldn't even sniff the first round in this draft class.

True, but QBs like Ewers, Penix (Washington), and Riley Leonard of Duke would be good options (https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/positions/QB/1/2024) for us to look at.
Those guys are much better prospects than Pickett.

But the point is, if you're investing high draft capital in a guy, you have to think that they're going to be a lot more in the league than Pickett, or they're not worht acquiring.

Obviously, but my point was more that we probably won't get a top 5 prospect QB, but we can get a reasonably good QB option late in the first. Not saying that any will be Rodgers, but it wouldn't be the worst to draft one of the options that I mentioned for a similar purpose of what the Packers did with Rodgers, while we wait for Dak's contract to end. We have the coach to teach them. Mike might not be a great playcaller, but he's brilliant with QBs, for the most part. It might be wise to go this route.

That's why they traded for Lance.

You can't be paying two first-round rookies and Dak's salary.

Perhaps, but you can have them compete with each other and trade one if they lose the camp battle. Bear in mind, Dak's contract is structured to where a 1 June cut carves it in half, and it's not a killer capwise to do it this offseason. So, there's that too.

You can't draft a guy in the first round and then just trade him after one training camp.

Dak would have a cap hit of ~$25m if you make him a June 1 release. Then $5m for Lance and probably another $8-10 on the first-round pick. That's a cap hit of $40m at QB and you're depending on Trey Lance or a rookie.

True, still, this QB class looks really good. If we were ever going to draft a QB In round 1, this is the draft to do it.

There was some real debate about taking Hooker in the 2nd round in this past draft. I hope we draft a guy.

Didn’t Cooper Rush sign a two year deal? He’s the perfect bridge QB.

We got to get one! Cut bait with Dak now and let Cooper Rush finish the season. Draft a QB in 2024!

Bo Nix reminds me of Drew Brees.

If things don’t change I’m ready to blow it up…I’d trade Parsons to get one of the Bears picks if it’s top 3ish.
