You don't think a kick returned for a TD wouldn't swing momentum to end the 1st half?

At best, Dallas is going into the intermission with a 23-3 lead. If the kick was short, and returned for a TD, we are talking about a 20-10 lead.

Brandon just went all out on a 66 yard kick. Could he have enough leg to repeat it and make it? Maybe. But add 5 yards to that attempt. To me, it just wasn't worth the risk of a Browns return and a shift in players confidence.
This is how I see it. Simply no need to risk anything. And that's what I wanna see from the Cowboys this year. Lots of Cooper Rush games if you will.

I really like Aubrey and he will get his chance. That was just not the time.

It was the smart move not to kick it from there because of the potential return and giving Cleveland any hope or any positive yards or anything I agreed with them not going for the 71 yards that's something for the fans but as a coach he did the smart thing by punting it.. Someday at the end of a game where it's win or lose and you can try a 71 yarder 'cause that's all you have then we can do that.
Agree...additionally, I've said in other threads that a kickers psyche and confidence is incredibly important. Don't give hime a chance to get a miss on his mind because for a kicker a 60 plus yarder is the same as missing a 35 yarder......still a miss

Save that 70 harder for when we really need it, imo

Maybe in the Super Bowl.

When the clocks ticking down, regardless of how the refs screwed up, you have to call TO. McCarthy knows more about football than most people who've ever lived, but when it comes to the small common sense calls, he's doesn't see it. No excuse.
Total idiot move from MM. It is the dying seconds of the half and you are gunning for legitimate points.

What made it worse was that he trotted out Dak, and our QB took a close call contact on a half ending play that was totally unnecessary.

Had the defender been there two steps earlier and laid a hitstick on Dak we may be stringing up MM for deep stupidity.
