Since AI and machine learning is starting to become a hot topic for many people these days, I thought it would be good to create a thread dedicated to the discussion.

*** THREAD RULES ***

1) This thread is NOT POLITICAL and not about the moral implications of AI.

2) This thread is NOT a CONSPIRACY or fear mongering thread!

3) This thread is NOT for personal attacks or insults!

4) This thread is NOT for posting AI generated articles, content, etc.

5) If you are thread-banned, it will be permanent so keep that in mind when posting!

Violating any of the above rules can result in you losing access to this thread and/or having your account suspended!

This thread is where we can share the latest AI news and have CIVIL discussions about new AI technology and how it is impacting our lives.

I can't tell if it's against the rules to make the joke, "See that? Nature always has a cure for everything!"

So I won't make that joke. :muttley:
Jokes are fine as long as they stay within the rules :D

I made the rules because I am sure there are a few members here ready with soapboxes in hand to spam the FUD into everyone.

I wanted to have this thread be more about the technology and its advancements and real world implementations and usage rather than a sci-fi movie plot.

At the rate AI development is accelerating, I think a lot more people will be out of a job faster than they expect. It might be the herald of a Universal Basic Income just because of lack of jobs done by humans. That being said, we're still a long ways away from an actual Artificial General Intelligence. I'm not sure we have the hardware design capable of it.

I use ChatGPT4 a lot and it's nowhere near perfect, at least for coding, or song writing, or writing, for that matter.
It is fascinating and terrific for debugging, or making code more DRY.

I'm currently learning how to make niche AI Chatbot apps myself since that's going to be required knowledge very soon.
Credit to @Reality for introducing me down this new career path almost a year ago.

Your advice still sticks with me jefe. From as I was learning to how I'm still learning and always will be learning.

I'm pretty darn happy again.

https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2023/05/28/computex-keynote-generative-ai/

"For enterprises that need the ultimate in AI performance, he unveiled DGX GH200, a large-memory AI supercomputer. It uses NVIDIA NVLink to combine up to 256 NVIDIA GH200 Grace Hopper Superchips into a single data-center-sized GPU."

"Google Cloud, Meta and Microsoft are among the first expected to gain access to the DGX GH200, which can be used as a blueprint for future hyperscale generative AI infrastructure."

"NVIDIA is building its own massive AI supercomputer, NVIDIA Helios, coming online this year. It will use four DGX GH200 systems linked with NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand networking to supercharge data throughput for training large AI models."

"The systems will help SoftBank explore 5G applications in autonomous driving, AI factories, augmented and virtual reality, computer vision and digital twins. Future uses could even include 3D video conferencing and holographic communications."

Radio propagation is the way radio signals are transmitted from one point to another inside the earth's atmosphere or free space. Since these are electromagnetic waves, they exhibit properties such as reflection, refraction, diffraction, absorption, polarization and scattering

This should make people pay very close attention to bio sensors and biotech technologies, which is a sector left out of nvidias webpage. Like the van in the video, those signals will be able to bounce off any sensors in a persons body, and create the same image in the digital twin. This will be in addition to any sensors in any electronics people have and carry

How digital twins are improving and disrupting the ways we work

Back in 2017, scientists predicted that within a decade AI would be able to outperform humans in many areas such as language translation and truck driving, with more complex tasks such as performing surgery by 2053. Yet even these seemingly ambitious predictions are constantly being revised as the technology outpaces expectations.

One concrete application of these AI advancements that is becoming increasingly pervasive across a wide variety of industries is digital twins, which are ideal for overseeing and optimizing machine, equipment, personnel, and site-wide operations.

Digital twins are effectively bridges between the physical and digital world. They accumulate data over time about the structure of a system, its operation, and the environment in which it operates, and this data can be used to build intelligence on top using analytics, physics, and machine learning. It therefore becomes possible to query the digital twin of a specific system and ask about its past and present performance and operations, getting early warnings and predictions and improving productivity.

The evolution to 6G

Wireless connectivity will be essential for many innovative and immersive use cases. Powerful new 5G-Advanced networks will emerge in 2025, and Nokia has laid a solid groundwork for them. These will pave the way for true XR experiences, which will eventually lead to the merging of the physical and digital worlds and the enhancement of humans. However, it won't be until the 6G era, around the year 2030, that the metaverse's true potential will be tapped.
