The Best Metallica song in 10-12 years

I'm assuming that's Unforgiven III. If so, that's a good song. I can't check. Youtube is blocked at work. :(

Might I also recommend "All Nightmare Long" and "Judas Kiss". They're both off the new album and I'm guessing they're on Youtube as well.

Yep, I posted All Nightmare long , it's epic in length but addictive.

Yes it is, when you fly as high as Metallica did for son long , it was inevitable that they'd make a poor album or two as they changed their style of music to conform with their changing audience.

NO, it's not. They've sucked *** for 20 years. Conform nothing. They just suck. IMO, of course.

I listened to this a few days ago, and it was crap. Worse than Unforgiven 2, which was OK. Still better than St. Anger, but still crap. I've heard 4 songs now on the new CD, and none of them are any good.

Their audience hasn't changed, that's why nobody likes their music anymore.

It's hard to remain heavy, and evil when you're holding your newborn infant.
Life changes everyday - their salad days are gone and they did sellout and made a movie soundtrack etc, however what I tell you now is: people in music are calling Death Magnetic a masterpiece.

Ex GNR Drummer
In a 2007 interview with Rolling Stone, Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum described his impressions of the unfinished songs:
“ Lars is a good friend of mine. He played me the demos from San Francisco, and I turned and looked at him and I said, 'Master that **** and put it out.' It's ridiculous. The demos were sick. Eight-minute songs, all these tempo changes, crazy fast. It's like, 'Dude, don't get slower when you get older, but don't get faster!? How are you gonna play this live?' And then me and Lars were out partying all night, and he had to go in the studio the next day and do this stupid like nine- or ten-minute song, and I was laughing at him — because he played me the demo of it, and it was [sings really fast drum part], so fast. I called him, and said, 'Dude, how are you feeling?' He was like, 'Dude, I'm hurting.' They're cutting everything to tape, no ****in' Pro Tools — live, no clicks.[36] ”
Six of Death Magnetic's ten tracks were revealed to members of the UK music press at a listening party on June 4, 2008, where it was confirmed that there are two eight minute songs present on the album.
The album's first single, "The Day That Never Comes", is described as the most downbeat track on the album, and is said to be reminiscent of their 1990 Grammy-winning epic breakthrough single "One;" Rock Sound has also compared it to the likes of Thin Lizzy.[37] The band have abandoned the solo-free approach that they followed on St. Anger, returning to complex, multi-layered arrangements such as those typically found on the band's fourth album ...And Justice for All.[38]
Thrash Hits was one of the first websites, along with The Quietus to comment on Death Magnetic[39], suggesting "it is a vast improvement on 2003 album St Anger." Metal Hammer has noted on Death Magnetic's "sharp riffs" and "uncharacteristic bouncing grooves," and compares the band's sound throughout these six tracks to other bands including Slayer, Led Zeppelin and even Rage Against the Machine.[40]
While Metallica was on the first leg of its 2008 tour in Europe, a third party at Metallica's management Q Prime demanded that media impressions and blogs be taken down for reasons undefined. However, when notified upon their return to the United States, the band was reportedly angered by their management's demands, and drummer Lars Ulrich rectified this issue by posting as many links as Metallica could find on their official website, along with an apology.

Well so far, they're 0 for 4, so the other songs would have to be mind boggling incredible for it to be a masterpiece CD.

Who ever said they were evil?

All Nightmare long is mindblowing

Metallica has been on a downward spiral since And Justice For All. I don't even have any desire to hear their new stuff.

It was better, but definitely not mind blowing, and still FAR, FAR, FAR from their good stuff. James singing has really just been a major negative on the last few CDs.

They haven't been "Metallica" for quite some time. In my opinion they're still not. After "And Justice for All", they went commercial, Metallica's "Metallica" album (The Black Album) was good don't get me wrong. After that however it turned into "Load", "Reload" and "Butt-Load". Alchohol and anger James, that's all you need. Guess I'll still have to wait for Metallica to come back.

Agreed. Terrible song.

that was just your life is really awesome, its not justice or puppets, but its an awesome modern day metallica thrash song, could you want more? What does everyone realyl want? End of the line is an awesome heavy metal song, with sick guitar harmonies. Broken Beat and Scarred has an AWESOME groove at 1:00. Not crazy about TDTNC, Unforgiven III is probably my favorite. Judas kiss...all i got say is BOWWW DOWWWNN. The instrumental is alittle wandering at some points, but its good, and has a very dream theater-y feel to it.
