I didn't miss it. I'm pointing out that it does not fit the context of your post which was about teams drafting QBs even when they already have an entrenched starter.

Why not reply to my comment about KC drafting QBs since Mahomes. KC has to be considered the top team in the league at this point.

No worries. Your opinions are always cool here. I was just responding to your actual quote: “SF Young: You said…”draft" and then reference Young who was not drafted”. Right He was traded which I said.

Just clarifying. that I never said what you attributed to me. We’re all just riffing opinions here. I’m fine with your disagreement with mine. Disagreeing is what makes this place fly.

And then there’s the team that does this religiously…

Im not sure you can make a solid argument that Philthy WANTED to keep looking for a QB after Carson... is it a plain or did option A go really bad...

I'm not against this theory but as has been mentioned here there are plenty of teams still drafting for a QB after spending premium picks on failures...if you're goona count the good stories need to put the nightmares in there also.

Again, busts do not mean you abandon the best methods available. No plan is perfect, thus you don't abandon the historically best methods just because they didn't work the first time you tried them. That's like giving up on a diet because you didn't lose 30 pounds the first week.

I didn't say abandon it I actually said it should be an option.. but like any analysis you have to show the good and bad data. The point beinglike this draft, to me we needed Mazi more than a 10% chance on a QB who can make it....I probably go to the 5th before i give up one of these picks to take a flyer on a QB... other drafts I might go earlier.

Other team's failures do not excuse Jerry Jones's failures. "Whataboutism" is never a good argument.
Lol, just ridiculous with the cry baby thing. People like that don't get the NFL business model and the odds.

Given out draft positions and needs

I'd like to see a list of QBs we passed on that we should have drafted since 2016

The only one that I think is possible in the past draft would have been Hooker at 58. I think that Dak is probably too good and too young to have done that.

Quote from the actual OP regarding SF you apparrently missed:
”Their habit of acquiring QB talent even when they have a great starter goes all the way back to the 80s when they acquired Steve Young in a trade with the Bucs…”
Yea, Im not sure why drafting or acquiring thru a trade wouldn’t still qualify. Excellent point Bob. Of course some fans will never admit. They’d rather argue until the cows come home than admit they missed it.

I find it interesting that it took the Chiefs 50 years to get back to and win the Super Bowl again and some people *****, moan, and cry about Jerry and 27 years.
Well, the clock is still ticking. If it reaches 50 years will that change your thoughts ?

Right but it does place us in that unflattering category amongst the less successful teams this era instead of with the more successful ones .

We were one of the greatest franchises for several decades near the top in playoff appearances & wins, championship appearances , Super Bowls appearances and wins.

Now we are one of only a handful of teams who haven’t at least made a championship game since our last and a similar group who haven’t at least made a Super Bowl in same time frame.

Most that have watched the NFL for a long time would think that this Cowboy team can and will compete.
I do as well.
Its just my definition of winning and competing is at the playoff/championship level while your standards of winning is based on regular season, no?

If not, then you would be able to honestly acknowledge how poorly this team has failed to compete at a "truly" winning level for 27 years.

And then to use the KC Chiefs 50 year SB drought as a comparable topic as to somehow imply that Cowboys fans are impatient?

And you started watching in '65?
What kinda Cowboy standard did you grow up on watching all the true championship level success this once proud organization built its reputation on but now has become an annual playoff team punchline?

Although plagiarizing from BobHaze's meme, "Respect is earned in the Playoffs".

That's the type fan I am.
But you do you.

They competed last year and should compete this year. They are good.
