The Best Team Did not Win the Super Bowl!

That is true! The Falcons had the best young defense, the best runners, the best receivers, a MVP QB, a great defensive coach, an all-around great team. But, they did not have the GREATEST Coach at scheming and tactics. A coach that that takes notes during a game then changes his game. Oh yes, the greatest QB to walk the planet. In the long run, the New England defense showed why they were the number one defense and the 90 snaps that Brady lead finally wore down that fast young defense of the Falcons. Morale of story is if you have a great tactical/scheming coach and a great QB with a relentless defense you can win Super Bowls. The Cowboys can win a Super Bowl if they can figure this out.

The "best team" doesn't always win. That's why they play the games.

No, the "best team" always wins. That's why games are played - to determine who the best team is. The problem with fans is that they look at one element of a team to determine whether it's the best team. But a team doesn't just include the quarterback, it includes EVERYONE, including the coach.

The Patriots are the best team in football. The sum of their parts is better than all other teams. And it doesn't hurt that on their team they have the greatest quarterback who has ever played the game and, maybe, the greatest coach who has ever coached the game.

NE deserved this win. They are the best for a reason and proved it once again last night.
Just think about this, New England did it with a lot of players who where throw offs of other teams. It takes a great evaluator of talent and a coaching staff that designs plays for those talents and turns dumpster fodder into treasure. Oh well, some day the Cowboys will do that too.

PS
I saw on another thread of the former Cowboys who went to other teams and now have Super Bowl rings. What did they know that the Cowboy's staff did not know??

I could entertain this thought if it were a nail biter game that came down to a fluke play, bad call, etc. But to be up by 25 points and allow the Pats to repeatedly score says just as much about the Falcons as it does for NE.

The best team ALWAYS wins.
You have one game to prove you're the best team. Not the team with the best record or the best scheme or the best talent but the best team.
The Patriots are the BEST team.
Stop all this otherwise nonsense.

Depends how you define it. Did the best team win Super Bowl 3? There's such a thing as an upset. The team that played the best game yesterday won. I would phrase it like that.

Coaching is part of what makes a team what it is,and the Falcons coaches crapped the bed down the stretch.

The best defense was made up of smaller sized players who ran out of gas in the middle of the 3rd quarter.

They did not have enough players there to run their rotations when they got tired.

:lmao:
Dont hold your breath waiting for JG to figure it all out, he still thinks the spike was the right call.
Marinelli still thinks you only rush 3 guys on 3rd down with rodgers :muttley:

The JG trophy case will look like this for good while :igglestrophy: well wait he will have a coach of the year in there, and 2 div hats, unless
he gave his away.

This New England team took a bunch of vicious body shots, a couple of monster head shots and went to the canvas twice.

Ultimately, they got back up and didn't go down a third time.

That field goal was not a given by any means.... but they should have tried it.

Dumb!

Actually the atlanta players even defense looked bigger than the NE players.
I think their style of play calls for speed and a lot of running, and they wore down, could be conditioning ?
But also brady passed 63 times lol and 96 total plays, so the Atlanta defense wore down, and I think that would wear any team down.

Atlanta needed to shorten the game by running, keep clock moving, not score more points, and they kept passing to try and score,
and that stopped the clock, going out of bounds stops the clock.

you could look at this like the turtle that beat the rabbit in a race, NE was constant, and Atlanta gave their best in first half and it wore them out.
Plus I said it in other threads, but to me and you and Atlanta, it looked like they had the game won at halftime, and at 28-3,
how many of you said O wait NE is gonna come back and win this !! lol, nobody did.

The long halftime favored NE who could plot and plan, but Atlanta had nothing to really work on.
Their adrenalin was all gone, kinda tired, and they thought they had it won, like we all did, then by late 4th, they like us started
to say hey wait whats going on here !! NE could tie this up !!

So it looks bad for atlanta, but really give NE credit for never giving up or letting up and being in good condition
to run 96 plays ! Brady was wore out at end of game, never seen him that wore out. He even broke down and cried
when he was down on his knees, he was wore out, but managed to keep going till they got that last td.

It is possible, many times the players will take over and get it done in spite of their coaches, but not in close games, especially if it is close
at end of a game.
And let me say this JG is not the worst coach in the NFL, there are a bunch just like him some worse some little better.
But JG to me just cant think for himself, he has to read it in a book, or he has his own set of rules, and
he just lacks ability to change adapt, and innovate, be bold.

When he called the spike , in his own words, it was to catch his breath and think, but it wasnt the right time for a timeout or a spike.
Either one rests the gb defense and allows subs. better to just run the ball, a simple play and keep pressure on defense.

But I will say it is possible , just not likely

This is why this Super Bowl will be remembered for a long time. The two defenses showed what Super Bowl defenses should play. The offenses played to their to their ability and it was a slug-fest where the QBs took punches all game. This is what we sit down with our pop corn expecting to see. All other Super Bowls will be judged by this one.
