Bledsoe was a h--o, so we started Romo.

Yeah, the success rate isn't high there, but isn't it much lower when you're swinging for success in the second, third and fourth rounds? Hell, it's not like we took the safe route with Romo.
I just think that if you have a young QB you're high on, you don't go out and get another.
If Romo were a "name" young QB -- kinda like Henson was -- but not necessarily a guy who was actually playing well (again, like Henson, or even an Aaron Rodgers)...then I'd have a MUCH different feeling.
But, as we sit here today, Romo's all about production. Unless that changes, I don't think we need another young guy competing for his job.
This is the same mentality that would lead us to believe the team would go down the drain with Romo in there instead of Bledsoe.Eddie;1158693 said:You know ... we've been so deprived of good QB play that we salivate over scraps. Anything remotely 'decent' is considered great these days.
Romo beat up a lousy 1-8 team.
Let's not put the words GREAT anywhere near his name quite yet. I'm happy with GOOD.
He has a long way to go before reaching the GREAT status. Let's keep our feet on the ground before announcing greatness. If he is, he'll earn it on his own. No banners or flags needed.
same here.Dale;1159055 said:If we didn't have Romo, I'd be all for drafting a QB in the first.
Check out his 3rd down stats.Dale;1159148 said:The thing I really like about Romo: We're holding nothing back with him out there. Our playbook is more open than it's ever been. To me, that's much more of an indication of how much Parcells trusts him than anything else. As pointed out earlier, we're running five-wide sets on 1st and 10. We're going downfield on 2nd and 23, etc. These weren't things we seemed comfortable, or capable, of doing with Bledsoe or any of the previous guys.
The term "bus driver" often carries a negative connotation. But I think any good quarterback must first be a manager of the game. I think Tony's not only a manager, but he's also a game breaker -- a guy you trust with the ball and expect to make big plays, despite what might be breaking down around him.
At least, that's how I feel after three starts.

These last 3 games with Romo starting have been the best qb'ed games since Aikman...People need to realize that true Cowboy fans have been waiting for the next good young qb to come around since Aikman retired.
Cowboy fans have a right to be encouraged...let the coaches keep everyone else on the team with thier feet on the ground.
It's a fans right to feel great about Romo.
