The Big Three

Oakland will clear enough cap room to sign whoever they draft be it McFadden or our two #1's. The 1st year cap hit for McFadden at #4 will probably only be around $3M. The cap hits of the #22 and #28 combined probably about $2.5M, not much of a savings.

It's a big savings, in that DMAC is going to be extemely expensive after this contract. Not nearly as much as the OLs that you might obtain and it's just a better value, from a cap perspective if your paying two starts as opposed to one. That alone makes it a savings because then you can get rid of two salaries to boot.

Yeah I agree that McFadden becomes more expensive over time, however if Al Davis has proved anything this off-season its that he isn't worried about 2 years from now. He wants to win in 2008, and despite what might be prudent for the Raiders, reports indicate he likes DMac. Sure they could pass on him or trade the Pick. It could happen, but I wouldn't bet on it. As to the original thread topic I think all three things happening this off-season are about as likely as me winning the lottery, sure it could happen, but it won't.

Does it seem like we are going this route?

  1. Pac Man
  2. Anquan
  3. McFadden
sure seems like that is the goal of the Jones's

I'll believe it when I see it. In this offseason in particular, it appears the media is just throwing darts. Remember, we were supposed to be getting Javon Walker, Fitzgerald, Asante Samuel, Chad Johnson, etc, etc. And we were also supposed to lose Hamlin, Flo, Marion, and Canty.

I sort of believe they want Pacman, but I also get the feeling that Jones doesn't want to give up more than a 6th rounder for him while the media is reporting it's for a 3rd or 4th.

Until the media can be right for once, then I'll start taking their word with more than a grain of salt.
