The Blair Witch may be the worst movie ever

I thought "House of 1000 Corpses" was pretty good as was "The Devil's Rejects". He took a nosedive after that though.
Agreed. 31 has that classic House/DEVILS feel, both visually and theme-wise. His wife still can't act, though.

Unless you're desensitized totally, Conjuring 2 and Don't Breathe are the best recent ones (IMO). The Green Room, and Indy film, is good too.

I'm, sadly, totally desensitized. I don't remember the last time any horror movie gave me any sort of chill or thrill.

Yeah I still remember having the "dude none of that was real" conversation with one of my roommates after he saw it. Amazing how they got people to buy into that.

Watched Conjuring 2 last night. Liked it as much as the first. Besides the creepy looking nun I don't know if it was better than the first but it was just as good.

If the make a stand alone movie with the creepy nun... I hope they do better than the Annabelle movie because that one was a big disappointment.

The greatness of originals. What really got me...

Friday the 13th - "ch-ch-ch-ch... kill-kill-kill-kill.... ch-ch-ch-ch... kill-kill-kill-kill...."

Texas Chainsaw Massacre - quite simply, chainsaw wielding "thing"... lol with someone else's face on his face/mask

Halloween - that cold, dead face with that mask with the cold dead shark eyes... AND.... that friggin eerie piano music.... "dooon-dooon-dooon..... dooon-dooon-dooon-dooon....."

Nightmare on elm street - "don't fall asleep" ... Johnny deep getting pulled into bed

How creepy a villian is can really carry a movie. I enjoyed Insidious 2 because of the villian even though the movie as a whole was somewhat weak, at least compared to the first

Conjuring 2 really nailed the jump scare. Its an artform like most other movie tactics that needs a tense setup to really work. Horror movies lately have killed by just rapidly throwing them out with no tension and environmental enhancements

Mothman Prophecies was pretty cool.

And the other one... it comes out/alive every so many years... was last seen hanging up in a barn with guy watching it with his rifle. It attacked a bus, plucked a person offf the street?

I can't say there are great horror movies being made, most movies that get lumped into "horror" run alone the lines of a drama/psychological thriller with some disturbing moments. Recently it was Babadook, It Follows had some disturbing scenes but it was also a coming of age story.

I can't think of many movies that fall directly in line with horror recently I'd consider great.

I honestly hated the Babadook. Ya I get that that was more art house and about her coming to grips with loss but as horror movie I found it ineffective
