I would take Cooks over OBJ any day right now.
You want Justin Jefferson? Cooper Kupp? Stephon Diggs? That's a bit unreasonable. When Brandin Cooks joins the Dallas Cowboys, he will join his 5th team in his 9-year career.
Saints, Pats, Rams, Texans, and now the Cowboys. A lot of folks on here are caught up by a name they recognize and a player some wanted during the season, last year. And I'll be the first to admit that Brandin Cooks is a NICE player, he isn't what this team needs.
This team needs an offensive weapon. A "game wrecker" of sorts. Not another nice WR that will fight for number 2 touches in our offense.
It points to the obvious blind spot in the front office that most of here can see but some are blinded too as well.
IMO settling for anything short of DHop or OBJ is just that. Settling.
Defense?? If ONLY our defense that year was better, we could have made it to the Super Bowl. Our defense did NOT give Romo one of his best seasons. Romo and our offense did. Did you forget our defense couldn't stop a one legged Rodgers??They want to play like we did in 2014 where we protected Romo and the defense and went on to give Romo one of his best seasons….
So you want a name? So waiting for the Cards to hold out for a team to offer a better second round pick (or a first), or gamble on another ACL (and arguing over money). When Brandin Cooks joins the Dallas Cowboys, he will join his 5th team in his 9-year career.

you're talking about a #1 WR at this point, and we have one. we need to compliment that and that's what cooks does. and at this point, it shouldn't be much of a fight for #2, or those fighting for #2 would also be fighting for #1 as well. When Brandin Cooks joins the Dallas Cowboys, he will join his 5th team in his 9-year career.

That’s what I said. I said the plan was for the run game to protect Romo and the defense. Running the clock kept the defense off the field. Aaron made a great play. Nothing the defense could do about that throw one legged or not.Defense?? If ONLY our defense that year was better, we could have made it to the Super Bowl. No, in 2014 they finally had an all-pro line at every position instead of journeymen OL masquerading as quality and Bill Callahan’s RB schemes, unlike what was thrown out there with Houck and guys like Julius Jones running into the back of OL. In 2014, they were a downfield, big chunk passing attack, built off the run with little play-action, play action used for, once again, not as a staple of the offense, but a feature to attack downfield. Once again, that offense was predicated on big play ability and both Dez and TWill were 2 of the top 3 WRs in go routes caught. That’s a myth, 2014 was conservative.. it just ran the ball effectively well and they had no need to protect the QB, what they needed was to take the pressure off him to make these happens. They want to play like we did in 2014 where we protected Romo and the defense and went on to give Romo one of his best seasons….
Ah - now that you worded it this way, I get what you were saying. That’s what I said. I said the plan was for the run game to protect Romo and the defense. Running the clock kept the defense off the field. Aaron made a great play. Nothing the defense could do about that throw one legged or not.
Our defense in 2014 was ranked 15th in points and 19th in yards allowed. That said it was a definite improvement over the 26th, 24th, and 31st (in points) it was ranked the three years before when we went 8-8.They want to play like we did in 2014 where we protected Romo and the defense and went on to give Romo one of his best seasons….
Cooks is 29.Cooks isn't all that. Neither is D-Hop or OBJ. All of them are 30+ years old with lots of wear-n-tear and who cost lots of money.
I like OBJ and would have welcomed his addition, but his last 1000 yard season was in 2019. Even with Hopkins, his last one was in 2020I am not sure why people keep acting like OBJ is this upper tier, elite WR still. Or that we should question Cooks on his 5th team in 9 years but somehow OBJ bouncing around like a fool isn't equally perplexing/questionable.
Stuck in a time machine. They think it’s 2017.I am not sure why people keep acting like OBJ is this upper tier, elite WR still. Or that we should question Cooks on his 5th team in 9 years but somehow OBJ bouncing around like a fool isn't equally perplexing/questionable.
Fair point although with Cooks he wont turn 30 until September, so I'm not sure he's done at this point. The argument could be made for a smaller speed-dependent receiver that his best days are behind him though. Curious what your solution would have been to the WR problem? Was there another trade target worth pursuing in a trade or FA? Rather look at the draft? I'm not in love with the Cooks deal, but it also feels like a solid solution at least for 2023.Cooks isn't all that. Neither is D-Hop or OBJ. All of them are 30+ years old with lots of wear-n-tear and who cost lots of money.
